A Block button
A block button to prevent other users from seeing your posts, going into your post history and continuously attacking you everywhere you go would be incredibly useful. The mute button stops you from seeing people's posts but it obviously doesn't stop others from seeing your posts and post history. People with ill will just goes through your post history and constantly attack you even after you mute them.
Cutting off interaction between two very hostile parties with a block button will save everyone a headache in the short and long term. It will also improve the article comments section tremendously.

BUT...But...but...
The "Aryan" need to be shunned; but those of ANTIFA & "B"LM (including WEAK mayors and governors) WE+ THE PEOPLE see as RADICAL DOMESTICATED TERRORISTS who are NOW burning our cities to the ground and keeps US from providing for our families are allowed to be the only ones heard or listened too?
I hope your "Momma" kicks you out of your basement, quits cooking your breakfast and Sunday dinners, and tells YOU to get a JOB and stop whining and RIOTING.
I "suggest" that YOU try find a REAL LIFE, unfunded by George Soros!!! [/JMHO]
(See how that two way street of whining and senseless bickering occurs?)
Don't be MAD; I was only expressing the same ignorance you posted before me.
YOU feel the NEED TO BE THE ONLY ONE TO BE HEARD [You're_*/CANCELED*!!!], and that's on you!
Ignorance is bliss.
If you can't accept that, MAYBE your MOMMY will forgive YOU...

@Stan Let's agree to disagree.

You have a total of three comments just sitting here in the suggestions on just this topic alone. Did you just auto click the agree tab WITHOUT reading through the "privacy" policy and YOUR Terms of Service AGREEMENT before signing in and making these single "suggestion(s)"?
ARE YOU TRIGGERED?
Just like on Yahoo! articles (as per the Terms of Service agreement YOU AGREED TO) pages, your previous comments WILL be shared with others if they decide to pursue them. Your comments/suggestions ARE the INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY of Yahoo! and when you clicked "I agree" before posting your very first comment you waved your personal right to privacy and "from others seeing your posts and/or post history".
If you do NOT want others to see your previous comments...
DELETE THEM!!!
[Thanks for playing, and have a nice day.]
(Hashtag) "Cancel" Culture Is Getting Called Out With Righteous Rebuttals & Terms of Service Agreements.
I could care less when someone comes back at me with an asinine reply I.E. "Said the 'Russian Bot' with 34,745+ comments". It just shows their ignorance and unwillingness to delve further in a conversation whether it's either meaningful or ignorant.
I have AND wear that ~34,745 comments (which also includes OTHER [previous] accounts that have suffered a shadow "ban" in recent DECADES) badge with honor!!! Pro: It not only shows how long I have been A Yahoo! User (Joined circa: 2001) BUT MY Freedom of Expression.
Opinions are like elbows, (4) four in total, when there are two people in a debate/discussion/conversation (add two more for each additional individuals that chooses to chime in); each have two of them, located on opposites sides of the body of conversation in question.
(On a /Side-note) @Yahoo_Developers/Moderators: I miss having the option of editing a comment on articles as we can use here here in the suggestions page. (/End_Side-note)
Please bring that format feature back; and PLEASE allow us to continue to embed/link web pages in our comments for rebuttal purposes.
I don't care if a Yahoo! User leans left or right. If I believe one is in the wrong I can only point out where I THINK they are wrong. I've been wrong and called out; and PLEASE point me to[wards] a rebuttal of common sense.
LET'S AGREE TO DISAGREE

I REALLY miss "back in the day" when an article comment thread reached into the thousands, if not tens of thousands of replies was the "trendier" of the search algorithms and EVERYBODY respected each other's comment reply/rebuttals!

Much longer story but my point has been made. Be careful with your personal information. More than ever Because of well let me just say people who control tiktok In A very short period whet from 2 million trolls to 12 million look it up

At the base level, a block button would give users more control over their own content.

I agree. I get continuously harassed by a troll farm on Yahoo comments. I exposed a troll farm and now whenever I post anything, I get thumbed down in a matter of minutes. I tested this by posting on a very old article with no activity only to find that my comment was immediately thumbed down by approximately 23 accounts. How does that happen unless someone is running a troll-farm or multiple fraudulent accounts? Now that troll farm has created an account that follows me around to harass me. I've reported that account multiple times and Yahoo does absolutely nothing. I believe that this inaction on Yahoo's part is because they have a leftist bias and are treating anyone that is not a leftist differently than those that support leftist causes. Surely Yahoo doesn't want to be caught allowing people to run a troll farm on their comments, or do they?

A 2 way block option has been needed for years. The comment boards are inundated with bullies, stalkers, and other abusive trolls. It needs to be stopped. And, Yahoo would very likely attract increased viewership if it fostered a far more positive commenting environment.

Yes!!! Yahoo, do something right, for once, and ad this feature ASAP. Add an unmute option, too, while you’re at it.

100% agree. A block feature would be fantastic, and much appreciated.

Yeah that won't happen anytime soon; Yahoo!'s developers are too busy making their category pages format look like complete garbage (i.e. https://news.yahoo.com/politics/)

Come on Yahoo, give us a way to properly block abusers. You'll be doing everyone a favor.

David Ledezma commented
@Robert Harris You are right. The mute option really only does half the job. Both the target of the mute and the account using the mute should not be able to see each other's posts. Not just the account using the mute. This guarantees a return to a level of civility and a reduction in abusive posts.

James Devault commented
Please add a block button Yahoo. It will be immensely helpful in your discussion sections.

I'm hoping Yahoo adds an unmute / unblock function in addition to a block button. Functions like that are very much needed in my opinion.
-
Robert Harris commented
I can definitely see a block button cleaning up some of the personal attacks, stalking, trolling and other nonconstructive comments in the article discussions. Muting only does half the job. It doesn't make sense to just have one person blocked from seeing posts but the other person is free to stalk and continue attacking.
-
Jim Bryant commented
This will be one of the most useful features ever if Yahoo decides to implement a proper blocking mechanism. I cannot emphasize this enough: people can be very petty and persistent. Maybe the mute should just be upgraded to block others from seeing your posts in addition to blocing you from seeing their posts? Also add a way to unmute if you accidentally mute or otherwise want to unmute someone.

I would like to use a block button feature as described in op post as soon as possible.
