Stop autoplaying videos on the Yahoo News home page
I see a lot of complaints about videos autoplaying when news articles are opened. That's annoying because it is unnessarily chewing up bandwidth. Recently when I first go to the Yahoo news home page, a video autoplays on the upper right side of the screen. I find this extremely annoying. I've used Yahoo News as my primary online news source for at least 12 years and now I think I need to look at less intrusive alternatives.

dear Best Regards at yahoo product support...well Best, I am glad you took the time to think this through. Knowing which of the thousands upon thousands of ads you post would make it difficult for you to know which was the most annoying. So Best, let me spell it out for you; You know sometimes you just have to go with a hunch, like when someone asks to stop the ads and they pluralize the word, that tends to mean it's a lot and not just one. Like my response to you Best, people are probably not going to name their children, 'Best'. But after thinking about it, I suspect you are probably a computer and your creator thrilled as he/she was, named you, the Best! Where regards came from well you got me there Best.
sincerely,

First, the YAHOO.com home page has changed - and I hate it. Second, due to that change Anything you choose to click on requires a second (Read More) click or even third click to get the story/video. Third, as to the ANNOYING ADS that were mentioned, don't pretend you don''t know what we're talking about Marissa! You know exactly what you are doing. Here's example, click on 'woman stuck in car', that sounds interesting, whats the first things you see AN ANNOYING AD. Bam! - Drop the mic - walk out! In same example you have to initiate a third click to read the F-ing story (sorry for the cursing). Change is inevitable but why is it every time Yahoo changes something its worse not better.

This is the worst I-net experience...I understand you have for commercial reasons to post commercials but to have them popping up and start running while I read the main article is ridiculous. Be honest Yahoo, is this an idea of a brilliant Indian IT guy to collect clicks without clicks in fact?
I hope you will show your professionalism and you'll ban this practice.
Anyway, I made a pledge (and I am not the only one) to obsessively avoid all the services and products advertised aggressively. -

Yes, please take away the video ads. It took me a few seconds to find which ad was playing in the 10+ ads on the right side. It would also be nice if you didn't auto play the article video. Most...maybe only some of us can actually read and don't want some news person to read us the story.

I agree.
PLEASE STOP automatically playing the video ads at every turn. Give us the OPTION of playing them, if you don't mind, because MANY of us, I promise you, DO MIND the annoyance.
Thank You!

I know Yahoo doesn't give a rats a z z, what we post but those freaking auto run ads like the one from cars.com are horrible. Not only do they use up the memory in my computer, they are horrible because they are all chopped up. Only figured this out when I turned off the mute, which I rarely do and the **** Cars.com auto ad played with all the tech savvy of a 1980's dial-up.

Yes, very tacky, not effective: I can't tell you what or whom is being advertised...rather than being intrigued, I find myself irritated. A lady riding a horse or a horse riding a lady, something like that...most all a pure annoyance degrading the Yahoo expirence.

Please stop ALL auto-run video.

That was EXACTLY why I clicked the icon , to see if there was anyway to turn them off!!! It's annoying and hogs memory. If I want to see the vid, I'll click play myself.

Hardees/Carl's Junior ads are loud and obnoxious. Bad enough to make me quit using Yahoo as a home page.

Agreed. Yahoo may have unlimited bandwidth, but I don't, and I'm sure as heck not going to waste it all on Yahoo's questionable ads. If I want to see an ad or video, I will play it. As it stands, if the ad gets in my way, I just close the page, and then I not only don't read the Yahoo news story, but I don't see any of the other ads that were on the page. I'm thinking that having autoplay loses more viewers than it makes, so it's not cost-effective for Yahoo or its advertisers.
