Change the reg season tiebreaker rules or allow private leagues more customization
The regular season, h2h wild card tiebreakers are horribly arbitrary and have been for years. It affects h2h one win leagues more, since there's higher chance of ties. Who in their right mind would choose week 22 win% as the first tiebreaker for a wild card spot? I'm sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense. And no, for the record, I am not being hurt by that system this year, I'm just finally choosing to post about it, since I just listed the playoff scenarios for my league.
In nearly every sport on the planet, head to head win % vs the opponent(s) you're tied with is the first tiebreaker. Then you might go to conference win % or total pts vs that opponent(s), or total points scored on the year. Week 22 win % should be one step above the coin flip level in the hierarchy.
Kudos to Yahoo for adding division win % as the first tb to determine div champs, but they need to keep going with it. Is there any initiative to change the default in public leagues or at the very least (and more importantly imo) make regular season tiebreakers customize-able in h2h one win leagues?
I would at least love a defense of the week 22-21-20-etc tiebreaking system from Yahoo or a user. Thank you

Wondering If the Yahoo fantasy baseball committee, could consider giving the choice of a tiebreaker during the playoffs to private league commissioners? Instead of just the higher seed wins, include the choices of having highest batting average wins or lowest earned run average wins for playoff tiebreakers. I feel it would be more fair to the lower seeded teams to have an equal chance of winning in the playoffs. Thank you for your time. Commish, Big Little League

Head to Head is how the pros do it....Let the customize leagues set their own tie breakers

Along same lines, we've had our league hosted by Yahoo! for 16 years -- and years ago, head-to-head was a key tiebreaker -- not higher seed. I also don't ever remember a specific week's winning percentage taking priority over head-to-head.
I think that allowing individual leagues to set up their tie-breakers would be the most fair way to handle this.
Have loved Yahoo! sports leagues for years but the continued move toward taking away individual league/commish options to customize is really disappointing.

Agreed. This is the problem in my league this season. We are having to manually score and post daily update on the message board. What they really need to do is allow the league commissioner to change league standings at any time throughout the season. This way leagues that have their own tie breakers can change their own standings.
