Fantasy Playoffs should start 3 weeks earlier (week 19)
The League I commish is ID # 59808. I've commished it and other leagues for 10-12 years. In recent years, in order to off-set constant increasing player injuries in baseball and constantly doing player transactions, I have always used the maximum DL players allowed. However, given that the long 162 game season tends to lend itself more injuries as the season progresses, and that the nature of baseball has gotten more intense over the years, it seems obvious that injuries are becoming more a part of the game. Primarily for this reason, I believe there needs to be an option for a shorter fantasy baseball season. This would mean fantasy managers would compete with have a healthier stock of players at a point in the season where attrition is less of an issue. Too often during the present fantasy baseball playoffs, at the end of the MLB season, good fantasy managers lose their better players due to the injuries of an really long season. Also, in mid-late September, a real MLB team baseball manager may decide to sit a player if their team is not in a pennant race or rest a player for the playoffs. These are things totally out of the control of fantasy managers, and many times, too difficult to predict or make a decision regarding a player's availability if the player information is lacking. What it comes down to is that Fantasy Baseball Playoffs are held too late in the year, and even tho your fantasy team excelled during most of the year, you are now playing to the disadvantages of mid to late September, a time of the Fantasy schedule that is very unpredictable and atypical. I believe, if the playoffs were held 3 weeks prior to that time, the competition would be more representative and consistent the the Yahoo fantasy baseball year. As the playoffs currently exist, instead of being rewarded for your fantasy skills and the team you played with most of the year, you get rewarded for only good luck of not running into injuries, or other things which happen at the end of the MLB year. Also, it runs into the fantasy football season, and many managers play both systems. I believe if Yahoo could give a Commish an option to start the playoffs in week 19, rather than week 22, it would make the Fantasy Baseball Playoffs, more measurable, manageable, realistic, more pleasurable, and less a thing of luck, an unknown factor of resting players, or injuries.

September Fantasy Baseball is always extremely painful because of the expanded roster. Players who should be placed on the DL are left on the active roster because they have the space. This hurts the fantasy player because you are forced to either cut a player that may come back at an unspecified time or play the week with a smaller roster. We should have the option of starting the playoffs at any week starting at week 19.
