I have been a Yahoo! user/fantasy participant since the year 2000. I play fantasy baseball, basketball, hockey, NCAA march madness, and football with you. I have never left yahoo! for any other fantasy sports site. I have a simple request of you and am very hopeful you are able to grant it asap, prior to the 2017 fantasy baseball season.
My long-standing head-to-head league is moving away from ERA/WHIP. We want to steer clear of ratio/percentage stat categories.
Therefore, I am asking that you add a new stat category for pitching which combines walks allowed and hits allowed.
On this Yahoo link (https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN6800.html), we see that you currently provide both HITS and WALKS as two individual stat categories for users to choose from. All of my league members and I are asking that you create one that combines the two; it can be called WALKS + HITS (regarding the TOTAL number of walks and hits a pitcher allows in his outing). We are aware of the WHIP category and that's not what we prefer to use. Again, we are trying to steer clear of a ratio/percentage and are hopeful to move forward to whole numbers...in this case a combination of two stats as one category.
Please consider implementing this for this upcoming fantasy baseball season. If this is indeed granted, it would return our league to a 5x5 category league which is what we are hopeful for. We are trying to avoid the ratios/percentages while also avoiding a total of 11 categories which is what we are currently at. If you are able to add this option for us, we can get it back to 5x5 while using the other 9 categories (along with the proposed total WALKS allowed + total HITS allowed) which we are proposing.
I am going to ask my league-mates to post in support of this and also ask the rest of the community/forum to help us by voting 3 votes and posting positive feedback for our proposal. We are really looking forward to having this as an option for this season.
Thanks, Yahoo!, for your time and consideration. This is really important to us. Much appreciated.

Wins and Quality Starts are are not a good indicator of a SP performance. Wins are impacted by the team and Quality starts can be a product of having more starts than your opponent.
Looking for a ratio that supports quality for SP than quantity or team performance. Take number of quality starts in a week and divide it by total number of games started. So someone with 7 QS over 10 GS (70%), is better than someone with 8 QS over 20 GS (40%) within a week or season. -

You guys realize that adding new categories doesn't mean you're league has to use them, right?

No to 'quality' starts.

Lucas Giolito won't be gettting ANY quality starts OR wins for a while because he was sent back to the minors. Yahoo still needs to make him an NA guy
thanks -

No way. Never do this please Yahoo. Quality starts is just another lame stat added by media to make themselves feel important. It's not relevant to me as a true fan of the game.

I would be in favor of changing the Wins Category to " Wins and Quality Starts". An example would be a pitcher (SP) has pitched 7 innings, 7 K's, 4 Hits, 0 Walks & 1 Run, let say, with his team leading with a score of 2 to 1. Then the relief pitcher(s) allow 2 runs making a final score 3-2 and the starting pitcher receives no win even thou he had a quality start, the way things are now. Lets receive credit where credit is due for a good starting pitcher. A relief pitcher receiving a Win just because the offense scores runs on both sides to allow the score to be 5-3, reflecting another twist to the 1st example, and the RP may only pitch 1 inning getting the Win instead. Starting Pitchers should get credit for all Quality Starts.

Not interested in adding Quality Starts. Leave it as it is...a win is a win. And a win for all managers/teams in the league.
Just another stat to manage and not needed. -

This category would solve a huge dilemma for us.

YES.
Seriously, why has this not been added yet? You'd think it's such an easy (and obvious) fix, but it still doesn't exist. Please add for by 2017!

This is what Tout Wars uses. If its used in one of the most widely regarded expert leagues, why isn't it available on Yahoo as an option?
