Scoring - New scoring categories and functionality
Requests for new scoring categories and general functionality.
Some of the most highly requested scoring categories are:
- Wins + Quality Starts
- Opponent OPS
- TB/9
- HR/9

HR allowed is currently an available category to use for pitchers, but not HR/9. In head-to-head categories leages, as opposed to points leagues, using HR allowed as a total-sum number inherently incentivizes you to not start pitchers once the team you are playing has given up more Home Runs than you. With HR/9, in categories, a good start from a pitcher would bring down your ratios, and still be effective.
In addition, the HR allowed as a total # causes the league rankings for pitchers to be quite out of wack, heavily trending to mis-represent relievers who of course have lower numbers given their lower workload, and therefore makes it harder for managers as a whole to evaluate trades between Starting Pitchers & other positions.
HR allowed is of course a good stat for points leagues, who can balance it accordingly to their other variables, but it doesn't work effectively as a total-sum number for categories leagues. It is still a valued factor in Baseball to want to use for fantasy, though, and the addition of HR/9 for pitchers for categories leagues to be able to use instead would be the perfect fix for this issue.
Thank you.

Myself and managers in my league have discussed some additional optional metrics that we think would improve the Yahoo! Fantasy baseball experience for us:
OPS Against for pitchers- Should be easy enough to calculate and would be more all-encompassing than WHIP.
Defensive Runs Saved for hitters - I think we can all agree that the current defensive stat categories for hitters right now are terrible. I’d probably prefer defensive WAR, but that is probably too complicated to calculate. This stat would at least be a huge step in the right direction.

Why would anyone go away from ratios?

HOLY **** YAHOO!!! IT HAS BEEN SINCE 2015 THAT WE HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR THIS!!! IT IS A SIMPLE CHANGE THAT WE KNOW YOU CAN IMPLEMENT!!!!!! WHY IN GOD'S NAME ARE YOU STILL GATHERING FEEDBACK!!! I REPEAT IT HAS BEEN 5 YEARS!!!
Nothing has convinced me more of the ineptitude of you people and your disregard for the people using your product. Make the change now!! Stop playing games it's been 5 years of me writing these ridiculous feedback posts to get the most simplistic basic thing done. DO YOUR ******** JOBS!!!!

Please implement this! It would be a huge improvement. Otherwise I may have to move my league to an alternative site. Please also make it so there is an option for no double counting (i.e., if a pitcher gets a W and a QS in one start, they only get one point).
It has been five years and this is still at the top of the hot topics...

The fact that yahoo cannot add this simple implementation is down right dumbfounding and absurd. This stat would be instrumental in my baseball league and thousands of others. Why in God's name does it take yahoo so long to "Gather Feedback" on make the most simplistic customizable options????????

Please add “Wins + quality starts” as a pitching category. Wins are overrated and not a true indicator of a pitcher’s success but deserve a little credit as a category. Adding this would be a great option for managers to have. Thanks!

I am going to be watching this for 2021

If you can add this or some version of of wins and quality starts together in 2020 that would be awesome. If not, can we please have a decision one way or the other? This suggestion has been in limbo for 4 years. I personally would rather have a no we aren't doing this than no progress at all.

Strongly support this idea, with the caveat that there should be only one point possible per outing (i.e., a P cannot get a QS and a W in the same game). Would be a HUGE improvement -- both W and QS have limitations that this new stat would address!

Please add this! It would be a HUGE improvement, and there’s other options out there with more league customization.

Come on Yahoo, add it!

I have been asking for this category now for YEARS!
The following is an embarrassingly asinine list of categories that Yahoo thinks is more relevant that QS+W:
Balks
Grand Slams
Catcher Interference
Hitting for the Cycle
Pickoffs
No Hitters

Will another year go by while Yahoo fails to support this category?

ERA is a useful summary statistic, but my favorite stat for pitchers is Opponent OPS. For MLB, overall, Opponent OPS is pretty consistent with ERA, but for an individual pitcher, it is much more indicative of his true pitching performance than ERA. ERA has many biases that Opponent OPS does not have. For example, ERA rewards pitchers who allow most of their home runs with no runners on base or are able to strand runners at the end of innings, even though those events are generally believed to be random and out of the pitcher’s control.Yahoo, please add Opponent OPS as an available scoring category.

In pitching Holds & losses , and hitting extra base hits, walks Walks of all of these must be added, stupid not to add them. Same with Holds.for pitchers.

How can I find out if this feedback page is viewed by any one at yahoo? Wins plus Quality Starts has been asked about for years with no response.

If you play in roto with Ks and BBs for offensive stats, this could lead to skewed standings if not everyone uses their games played. Adding in K% and BB% lets us keep the stats we like and avoid any potential problems with teams not using all their spots and gaining 12 points in Ks. Thanks
