[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

I find that these message boards have been very helpful in communicating with the other teams within the league. I'm always open to change and new ideas however, I'm not very optimistic about this change.

Not going to lie — this is pretty disappointing. Our league has been around for 17 years. As a (mostly former) sports journalist, I typically used the message board to write weekly recaps for my league that not only triggered discussion and allowed the league members to get to know each other, but also allowed me to keep my writing skills sharp. The message board was a large part of the reason our league has really had very little turnover in the past few seasons, as well as the reason our league, which has players in four states who are otherwise only connected by knowing me, has gotten to know each other and their personalities in time.
Past seasons' message boards serve as a true archive of the stories of our league. Now, it feels like that sense of permanence just won't be present. While I somewhat understand it — the board's RTF functionality was often buggy, the character limit was annoying, and I'm sure there's only so much server space to go around — I'm still pretty disappointed in the decision.

Bring back the message board function. Your app is hot trash that I will not use and the chat stinks. The app constantly force opens on both android and apple devices teven when both app and software are updated. And their practical uses are just less intuitive then the regular site. What the heck were you knuckleheads thinking? Fantrax and CBS it is going forward if this is your plan. It was the easiest way to communicate, keep track of traded draft picks, or simply communicate with the whole league at once.

I don't like it at all and my members feel the same and I'm considering moving my leagues to another fantasy site. Do you realize many of us in Yahoo Fantasy leagues would have to sort out all of our leagues chat just to post a message. Personally it might take 30 minutes to find one. Yahoo, you really dropped the ball on this one...

Just a terrible horrible decision. Hard to believe Yahoo will not listen to the hundreds of complaints and move forward with this decision.

since you auto renew all managers I have no way of knowing who is really in. The message board allow returning managers to post they're in. Without the board I have no way of knowing. Please put it back. thanks

Why would anyone think eliminating the message board is a good idea. It is all we have to chat back and forth in real time. How else can you discuss a possible rule change or take a vote where all can see the out come. I will most likely drop my leagues. Message boards are by far the best means to communicate. Using the Commissioners notes or email system is like going back to the dial phone. I think this is really bad move on Yahoo's part. Just doesn't make sense from a Commissioners or a managers ability to play. This is really the dumbest thing, whoever came up with this should be fired.

I abandoned all other social media sites when I realized that my true friends are those who play fantasy sports with me and we've had a fun experience using your message boards to discuss every serious topic and share any silly link. Thank you for retrieving our archives but please reconsider you're preference for chat box over message board going forward. I've just read 22 pages of concerns from serious managers and commissioners who depend on the board (and utilize it properly). I propose a trade: Bring back the board for them and I'll refrain from being silly in the chat. Thank you, Not Threatening To Leave ... because, you have to admit that the best part of Yahoo's home page "news stories" is the witty comments from your users.

Half our members don't use chat. Without a message board our league will have to switch to Fantrax. Why would you do this?

It's very dissappointing that the message board feature is no longer available. Bumping Heads has been a longtime league with Yahoo (and even before that) and the primary way that manager and the commisioner communicated was through the message boards (especially before and during the early days of the league. I have to know use the "email league" feature and it is not as functional, as some managers simply don't check their email on a timely basis. the chat feature doesn't appear to be a function available on the desktop version. Please consider reinstating the message board as it also serves a historical function, which is vital, especially in longtime leagues such as Bumping Heads!

If you plan to replace the message boards with expanded functionality for chat - AT LEAST get the chat functions working before you rmove the message boards. The message boards could have used some upgrades - but they provided essential functionality to the leagues. They need to be restored ASAP.

Yahoo, do you really think reducing the ways a league can communicate with each other is a good idea? And, you don't even have your chat in a place where it can adequately serve your audience. As far I can tell you can't even access it if you're on a web page version of the fantasy site.
You can't seriously think this is the best course of action. I can only assume this has to do with money, perhaps spamming us with unwanted ads in some way in the chat.
What is wrong with you?
The sooner you realize your mistake and bring back message boards the better off you will be.

Message Boards were the primary and key communication function in my leagues. I think it is an extremely poor decision to get rid of them.

Hi,
I run 20 team dynasty leagues for football, baseball, and basketball that we have done on the Yahoo platform for almost 20 years. While the chat is used by most, some don't have the app and can use the chat for news, instructions, etc. Additionally, the commissioner notes are helpful for me to instruct managers on certain things, but they can't comment back and have a discussion.
We use the message board to setup the draft dates and times, communicate when someone is "on the clock", discuss rule changes, vote on said rule changes, make sure all 20 teams are returning (we live all over the world).
Please bring them back.
Thank you,
Nick Rosse

Not that it is going to make a difference but I join all these other commissioners and coaches that think this is one of your worst decisions EVER! We used the message boards extensively in many of my leagues. In fantasy football, we conducted drafts via the message board. Also used the message boards in our fantasy baseball leagues so that everyone could see who you named for keepers. At one time, I ran a couple of leagues that drafted in Yahoo groups beginning on January 2nd. We had to move those to another site, and now I run 6 such leagues drafting that way. I also participate in more than a dozen leagues that used to draft in Yahoo groups and now uses another site. I belong to more than a dozen dynasty leagues in Yahoo fantasy baseball where we used the message board frequently. I was going to start a new dynasty league here at Yahoo but now I'm not so sure. I have no idea what you will take away from your fantasy site next.
