Ability to modify number of votes to veto is ridiculous!
Why do we have to keep it at 1/3? Everyone in my league is pretty active (we take this league seriously) and almost no trades go through? Why? Because it only takes 1/3 of the league to veto trades!! Absolutely ridiculous. I really wish you could make it half the league....

In my league non of trades go through because of 1/3 settings. May be at least change this setting to 2/3. Most appropriate is to have a setting with drop down with options 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, 3/4.

Get together with another commissioner and trade services. You review his league's trades and he can review yours. Voting is silly, as you said, as nobody let's anybody make a trade as it's not in THEIR interest. This is an easy way to fix the situation.
You tell your league that this person is our reviewer and he is a Commissioner of a different league (so he should be knowledgeable). If you want to make a trade, you should provide your reasoning as to why the trade makes sense for both parties with the request (typically via text or email). If people don't think it's fair, then they can send an email saying why the trade is too lopsided and should not be allowed. The other Commissioner is the Judge, so his decision stands. He isn't in your league and it's hard to argue why their ruling isn't impartial. When we implemented this, our trade volume increased immediately from zero to about 5-10 each year. Enough to make it more fun or at least possible.

This needs to be changed. 1/3 may work for some leagues, but the ones i run, the number needs to be higher. There should be a drop down option that lets you choose the exact number of votes needed to veto depending on the league your in. (1 through whatever). If nothing else, there should be a 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 3/4 and all option. Though picking the exact number is more feasible

AGREE. Need changes...
Need the ability to adjust settings to allow each League to determine the appropriate # votes required to veto trade.
Should be able to be changed in settings and set anywhere from zero/one up to the total number of League members. -

Sounds like you need new managers. I told all of mine at the beginning of the year that trades generally should go through and it is not whether you like a trade or not, it is whether it is grossly unfair. In 5 leagues we've only had one vetoed and that was one where one manager duped another.

Just ran into this last week. 12 owners and two involved in the trade leaves us with 10. It should be at least 6 (majority) to veto a trade. On top of this issue, those involved in the trade can vote against it in cases of buyers/sellers remorse.

yep. we had to change to a text chain because we wanted the threshold to be higher. if the platform isn't flexible, people will find an easier way.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for posting this problem. I am a commissioner for one of my leagues and I hope yahoo changes this ASAP. There should be an option that leagues should choose from 1/3, 1/2, or 3/4 or allowed to put the exact # of votes for a veto. The same thing happens in my my 12 team league that no trades go through even though they are legit trades bc it is abused. YAHOO PLEASE CHANGE. Thanks to the below comments I found out that ESPN offers this option and I would hate to leave yahoo fantasy football for an easy fix. If this problem does not get fixed, it would would force me to do more work bc I would have to get everyone's vote via text message or just take my league to ESPN.

Yahoo, please allow the commish to set the exact numbers of vetoes required to veto a trade. The inability to change from 1/3 will cause me to now take my league to ESPN, Please Help a Yahoo Fantasy Diehard. 1/3 is too low.

To the original poster: There is an easy work around for this stupid limitation. But it needs a trustworthy commish. Change the settings for Trade Review to Commissioner. Then have the commissioner conduct the vote by a poll or email.

We had the same problem in our league. This needs to made customizable. Trade votes should register the team manager and a reason for vetoing. Same goes for fantasy basketball.

I'm so glad someone brought this up! I manage a 12-team league and so 4 people can decide the outcome of a trade which is absolutely ridiculous. I had to set the setting to the commissioner but i then asked people to vote on a trade which is pain in the rear end.
Thus the option of having league majority YAY/NAY a trade should be available within the configuration settings. Please please please implement this change in your config settings.
Also, a few years back the option to have Yahoo YAY/NAY all trades was available for private leagues but now it's only available within Public cash leagues..any way Yahoo makes this available to private leagues again?

Currently, under "League Votes" setting trades are vetoed when 1/3 of the league votes no. The only other option is "Commissioner Review" which doesn't provide members the ability to vote anonymously. Our league wants 7 "No" votes to veto a trade w/ anonymous voting. Should be a way for us to do this in the settings.

Once a trade is accepted, the remaining managers (not involved in the trade) can vote to reject. However, the only options now are 1/3 league to reflect the trade. Make an option where a majority of the league has to reject the trade. (12 man league -2 traders =10 possible votes. Trade gets rejected if 6 managers reject)

Just make the commissioner in charge of approving trades instead of using votes...problem solved

I agree. In our league, trades are being vetoed way too often. 1/3 of the league is too little. I would like to edit this function to extend it to 60% votes needed to veto. For example, in the case of a 10-team league, at least 6 owners would need to vote against the trade in order for it to be vetoed. Yahoo - Please fix this. Our league is very frustrated with this and we are already planning on moving to a different site next year if this veto system remains. Thanks.

Easy fix, get rid of vetoes... If your league is serious than no one is making a trade that's so one-sided that it's not fair.

Easy fix. Give the power to the commish without the votes. If enough people are against it they can contact the commish. You don't need the vote system. Yahoo still beats the **** out of the other sites, hands down.

It should be able to be edited. Your competitors at ESPN and NFL.com allow you to customize the # of votes required to overturn a trade.
