Alternative Scoring Format Excluding Arbitrary Schedule (NOT ROTO!!!)
I would like to see a format of scoring that eliminates the arbitrary schedule. In a 12-team league with playoffs, our league essentially has 13 weeks of head-to-head matchups. The last two weeks are played against previous opponents for the second time. If the arbitrary schedule has selected your team to go against the 'best' teams in the league, you are at a major disadvantage.
Further, if you put up the second most points in a week, but are pitted against the top overall scorer, your record would be equivalent to the worst-performing team. I don't mind this in sports such as baseball (with a massive schedule), but in football, this is becoming a regular occurrence that is borderline infuriating. Our league statistics have proven that schedule has had as much of an impact on outcome as actual performance. This aggression will not stand, Man!
Assuming a 12-team league, here is my idea - Every week, you determine the points scored by each team. Highest point total = 11 "Wins" and 0 "Losses." Second highest = 10 Wins, 1 Loss, etc. Least number of total points = 0 Wins and 11 Losses.
This occurs for (in our case) 13 weeks with a maximum overall record of 13x11 = 143 Wins/Losses.
Before people complain, this is NOT a roto format, as it is NOT the same as keeping a running total for all points for each week to determine a victor. It is still week-by-week based, but Ws and Ls are determined regardless of opponent. In a roto format, you could be over-penalized for a 'bad' week. We want to maintain week-to-week neutrality.
Please allow for such a format. Please.

I'd like to do this for the first and last week of the season so we don't have to play 2 teams twice. top six scoring teams get a W, low get a L.
This is an excellent idea.
Yes, Yahoo needs to allow this format.
Actually, Yahoo should make this the preferred format.
Eliminates the need for a league schedule
Eliminates complaints about lesser teams making the playoffs
That's a win-win-win-win.

I would also like to see this option. Football is the only fantasy sport where one of the best teams in the league can miss the playoffs. My league members have begged to do this for years (award every team 11 wins/losses based on how you score against every other team) because it takes some of the randomness and luck out of it. Unfortunately, as commissioner I don't have the time to track the standings manually every week. I noticed Yahoo already tracks this data in its weekly matchup recaps, so it would be great if they made it an available scoring format in the league settings. I guarantee you this would become a very popular scoring methodology in fantasy football and would draw more people to Yahoo leagues as word got out.
I like this ideas as well as a simpler weekly points system where the top scoring teams get a W and the bottom scoring teams get an L. Either one of these systems eliminates the "unfairness" of posting the 2nd highest score and getting a loss. Also eliminates the impact of "lucky" scheduling. I would love to see a weekly points scoring system on Yahoo FF!
This concept (known as "Head-to-Head Matrix" in the world of FanDuel) would also eliminate the requirement of having an even number of teams in the league.
