Offensive and Defensive designated bench spots
I would like Offensive and Defensive designated bench spots in IDP Leagues. We do 9 bench spots and have a rule for max of 5 spots used per side. It would make sense and be a huge time saver if that could be built in instead of me, the commisioner, montiring other teams rosters constantly.

100% agree. I want the ability to make a defensive player only bench spot.

I agree, denfensive bench spot would be great, we would use that in our league as well.

This is a really interesting idea I kick around as well. I am for a MAX LIMIT per position which in effect does the same thing. But improves on it in my position because it gives guys the freedom to build the bench they way they want without forcing them to draft positions they would rather not. ROSTER MANAGEMENT is huge when it comes to showing that you can GM a team better than your buddies. And now @Jean-Francois; u only allow for 1 QB? That is jacked up. Every position should be allowed to have a minimum of one back up. Last minute injuries, suspensions, etc. happen. You don't always have time to pick up someone from the FA market, depending how your Commish structures the League Settings for Waivers. Jean, your league set up sounds messed up.

This is exactly what i needed too i'm a 17 years commish of a 20 teams leagues and wwe have specific rules (no more then 1 QB per teams except when the QB is injured or bye week and when not the other must be release before tuesday morning) we also play with 4 benches but would like to be able to set it like 2 offense and 2 defense etc please yahoo make it happen!
100% agree - I would even like to be able to set it by position. I have one guy with 4 QBs on his team, is is just hoarding them. Make the BN spots changable by position as well

I would very much like to see this feature added. I am currently limiting the bench spots in my league because I know they will be used for offensive players.
I totally agree! I mean, if ESPN has this feature (with their rinky **** setup) then I'm sure Yahoo can do it. What is so frustrating is that every year I get the same response from the Yahoo team..."We currently don't have that feature but we are always working to improve" UGH! Then they come up with all these unnecessary changes that nobody even asked for. YAHOO...C'mon Man!

How has this not been addressed by Yahoo? It literally has no negative effect on leagues that don't do IDP, and only allows for the addition of a Defensive Player only bench position(s). For leagues that use IDP and don't want the defensive bench spot, they can simply choose not to use it.

This topic seems to be all over these posts and it seems like an easy fix. I've been doing IDP for years and there always seems to be an issue with IDP bench players. There needs to be designated bench spots for IDP players instead of the league commissioner having to police this issue week in and week out. Yahoo fantasy has always made changes to make it an all around better experience. This would do nothing but help the app grow and gain more fans.

I am Mr. Loophole and I agree with this message.
Seriously though it can't be too hard to make this change on the fantasy football platform. Makes nothing but sense and you will obviously be helping the hardcore fantasy players and at the same time keeping them (us) from jumping ship to another platform. Believe me there are plenty to choose from but we want to stay with the original, the OGs of FF. Yahoo has made plenty of cosmetic changes to the app by adding bells and whistles and pretty colors but now it's time to make real change.

This needs to happen. We've implemented a punishment policy in our league for people that fill the additional bench spot that's reserved for a defensive players, and it's gotten out of hand. Assigning bench positions for offense and defense would completely eliminate this and would have absolutely no impact on how the game is currently played for non IDP leagues.

In our league there is a large emphasis on IDP drafting. They score well and a well drafted IDP squad can win you games.
Our league has been using Yahoo Fantasy since 2005!. We added IDP soon after and it make our league unique. Yahoo provides an amazing system for using these players and we wouldn't use any other program, however there lies major issues when it comes to exploiting defensive roster spots.
Our league is deep with 14 teams and in addition to the standard offensive spots we have 8 IDP positions. This makes it very hard for a team to manage the limited 5 bench spots we have in our league along with the IDP players. So to remedy this we added one additional bench spot only to be filled with a Defensive position player. Let the shenanigans begin. Teams would use this spot mid week to add offensive talent and decide who to drop last minute, along with a multitude of other ways to cheat with this bench spot. Our league to fix this added stiff fines such as 0 points for the week and an automatic loss for violating this rule.
Yahoo please this can all be fixed by just assigning a separate bench for defensive players only. then players can protect their draft investments without the fear of dropping the very little bench talent they have in our super deep league.
Please do this. Please its so simple!

we have been using IDPs for 24 years. i want to add a 7th IDP slot and a bench spot but i DONT want the new bench spot to be used for offense, only for defense so guys cant hoard offensive players. can you create an option that permits me to delineate how many of the bench spots can be used for offense and how many for defense?
