Schedule/Scoring Formats - 'Doubleheaders vs league score median'.
Each week, the median fantasy points of all teams in the league is calculated by taking the middle number in a sorted list of scores of each team. Each team would get a win if they beat the league median and a loss if they lose to it.
This feature is now available with Yahoo Fantasy Commissioner Plus.

I like the Nov.6 comment that suggests the top 4 teams get a win, the middle 2 teams get a tie, and the bottom 4 teams get a loss.

I think that "all in" scoring would be a better solution.
All-in = have every team play every team every week. -

Thomas, your idea would be an improvement.
Even better, the top 4 teams could get a win, the middle 2 a tie, and the bottom 4 a loss.
Even better, you could have every team play every team every week.
Even better, you could use Total Points Scored during the season to rank the teams. -

I agree with the Nov.19 comment from greg.
It makes more sense to me than the "Top 5" idea presented here. -

Just the option to alter the head-to-head scheduling so the Commish can opt for single match ups, double match ups, the "all Play everyone" match ups. Using the two game scenario, a team with the second highest score which plays the weekly high scorer in successive weeks will have a record of 2 wins and 2 losses as opposed to 0 wins and 2 losses. It offers a better result of the strength of his team and is much fairer with the waiver order. Imagine a team with the second highest (or possibly the first) "points for" having the first waiver selection.

Please implement this for the 2016/2017 Fantasy season. Thank you!

Why not combine both? Double Headers with this system.

Garrett commented
We should have the ability to play double headers any week.
If we want to play double headers the entire season, go for it. If just in week 13, that should be possible too.
Please increase your functionality. Yahoo has the best GUI, but is like 10 years behind (not exaggerating) many other ffl sites (not mainstream).

I kept track of this manually in my league and it made barely a blip on the standings. It's nice in theory but fairly worthless in practice.

i'd like the head to head be against the entire league each week. in a 10 team league the high score should get 10 that week in the standings, 2nd place gets a 9, down to the worst team getting a 1. the standings points are cumulative for the year. fantasy points are the tiebreaker. every week each team has the opportunity to get the high score.

AFFL TOP 5 STANDINGS AFTER 10 WEEKS
1. Badgers..................8-2......1147 points
2. *Squad Deep*.........8-2......1111 points
3. Landsharks.............7-3......1010 points
4. radicals...................5-5......1060 points
5. DEFCON X..............5-5......1020 points
6. Gorilla Monsoon......5-5......928 points
7. oilers.......................4-6......923 points
8. Penndel Bob...........4-6......917 points
9. Roids.......................3-7......979 points
10.Tankheads..............2-8......844 pointsThe above standing is based on the TOP 5 scores every week or 50/50 scoring system. as you can see the records and standings resemble the standard head to head or better yet the random schedule standings. There will never be any undefeated teams. Last year three times the the 9th highest scoring team beat the only team it could beat the 10th & worst highest scoring team while the 2nd & 3rd highest scoring team has lost to the highest scoring team a few times this year. TOP 5 or 50/50 is the only fair way since you have absolutely no control over your opponents score. Yahoo please offer us the TOP 5 scoring system...PLEASE....I'm tired of manually entering the TOP 5 every week.

Add an option to allow for two-game weeks, which is comprised of:
(1) Game against your normal H2H opponent
(2) "Game" where top half scoring teams get a win, bottom half scoring teams get a loss (ex. in 12-team league, top 6 scoring teams that week get a win, and bottom 6 scoring teams get a loss)The intention of this is to allow leagues the option to reduce luck's influence on standings.
For example, in week 1 team X scores the 2nd most points, but plays team Y who scored the 1st most points. Instead of getting frustratingly saddled with being 0-1, they'd at least be 1-1 in this setup.
Conversely, in the same week 1, team A scored the 2nd fewest points, but team B scored the fewest. Instead of team A getting a "cheap" win and sitting atop the standings, they would be 1-1 and team B would 0-2 for their horrific week.
I think this would be an easy implementation and would be a great option, particularly for the more serious / higher-stakes leagues.
Please considering adding for next season!

From looking at the responses It is clear to me that Yahoo needs to add the 50/50 scoring option. Your customers want the top 5 scoring system. In today's world people want options to choose how to score the wins & losses in their leagues. Yahoo be a leader and be the 1st web site to offer the 50/50 scoring option. You will increase your customer base by doing so.

I hate this idea. The name of the game is beating your opponent each week. If it's all about total points, then whynnotbjustbskip the completion and skip the W/L records altogether and just tally up the points at the end of the season?

I wish Yahoo would add a double header option too.

Yahoo can you modify the wavier system where the league is not shut down till Wednesday 5am. This is boring where there can be no activity for days. Yahoo can you add feature where the league can choose a wavier system for either Monday 5am, Tuesday 5am, or Wednesday 5am. Choices are good and this way leagues could choose how long they want the wavier system for and their league frozen. Please give us choices Yahoo. The Monday and Thursday night games do not need to be frozen.

I've done the top 5 scoring format for a couple years. I manually post the winners and standings every week. The team records are the same as head to head. Currently after 8 games we have two 6-2 records four 4-4 records, three 3-5 and one 2-6. There is no such thing as undefeated teams in top 5. top 5 standings reflect the same balance as head to head, but you have to score to win and not depend on random schedule luck. also top 5 is more competitive on Sunday & Monday night games because the low scoring teams can have hope of finishing 5th and the top couple teams don't have to worry about the 2nd highest scoring team losing to the top scoring team because the random head to head schedule. Manually go back to your league and score each week giving the top 5 teams a win and you will see for yourself. I am talking from facts and a couple years of doing.

You could do better. You could give the top 4 teams a win, the 2 middle teams a tie, and the bottom 4 teams a loss.
You could do better. You could have each team play each team each week. That eliminates much more of the luck factor.
You could do better. You could use Total Points scoring for the season and not even mess with wins and losses. The truly best team in the league is the one which scores the most total points during the season.
