Playoffs - Odd number of teams
This playoff format would allow for an odd number of teams in the playoffs. Currently, this is not an option for playoff formats.
7-Team playoffs are now available with Yahoo Fantasy Commissioner Plus: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/started-yahoo-fantasy-commissioner-sln36403.html

Agreed - scrap this **** - we are all starting to move to NFL because if we have to learn something new we might as well get more features out of it too (which they have) -
people play on Yahoo because it is simple and we know what to expect - WE DON'T want to learn a whole new interface every year! -
Having to scroll left to right in order to scroll down the players is awful -
I like the tab with the positions filled by which team but - it isn't worth all you changed

This is what our league wants to do as well. It might be the new NFL format in a year or two anyway so I think Yahoo needs to add this as an option.

This is one of the biggest improvements Yahoo can make

Even just a simple manual playoff seeding would be much appreciated. That way a 6 team playoff could have its last seed filled by the team with the most season points who wouldn't otherwise make the playoffs. Somewhat of a wild card team to counteract the luck of H2H matchups.

Why has this been under review for 12 months without a response? This has to be a relatively simple fix for something that people obviously want. There are several threads requesting the same flexibility. Last year, I had to set playoff matchups by the message board. It ruined part of the playoffs.
Is Yahoo going to make this a feature for this year or not? If not, we will be moving our league this year.

This would be great - especially since the last two weeks are so risky anyway.

I don't understand the point of offering a commissioner to set the league into divisions when the limited playoff options totally ignore divisions. To have such great flexibility in other areas of the site but not the playoff seeding is rather dumbfounding. That is a deal-breaker for a lot of leagues.
Suggesting we go back and game the stats to make the playoff tumblers click into place sounds like amateur hour. It's like buying a table with one leg shorter than the others and the manufacturer's instructions suggest putting a 2x4 under it.

We want to do this same thing. I've been running a 10 team league on this site for 10+ years. Top 6 teams make the playoffs. We want to make it so the teams with the 5 best records get a playoff spot, then the 6th spot is awarded to the team that has the most total points out of the remaining teams.

I want to do this same thing. We have a 10 team league. Top 6 make the playoffs. I want to make it to where the 6th spot goes to the team with the highest total points out of those bottom 5 teams.

Yahoo, are you going to fix this problem before this season? Give commissioners more control. The play off system is one of the most important parts of fantasy football!!
We have a 14 team league. I want the teams with the best records to take the top four playoff spots and the remaining two spots to go to the two teams with the highest remaining points that are left. So simple, and so much more fair.
PLEASE MAKE THIS POSSIBLE WITHOUT HAVING TO MANUALLY CHANGE TEAM'S POINTS FROM EARLIER GAMES!

Jim, if you are doing that, you might as well just skip the head to head setting and go for the total points setting. A big part of the fun is the weekly head to head match ups and if you are playing everyone every week, it would take away all of the fun of the match ups.
Another option I do like to to have each week count for 2 wins or loses. You can earn one win for beating your opponent, and another win for beating the league average in scoring. That way on a week where you get lucky and win with a pitiful score, you would go 1-1 since you would get a loss for not beating the league average. You could of course also go 1-1 by losing your head to head match up while scoring high enough to beat the league average for the week.

I would like more options, but this would be a HUGE step in the right direction. Every single year some team puts up a great scores all year and misses the playoffs due to unlucky match ups. This would allow us to keep the fun of the weekly head to head match ups but still be more fair to the good teams. YAHOO, PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!

We just switched from a 10 team league to a 12 team league. I wanted to know if you can make a 7 team playoff with the #1 seed getting a bye in week 14

this is exactly what I just proposed. Is it possible to set up 2 10 team leagues. top 4 in each league make the playoffs and play week 15 and 16 to determine a champion, then do the interleague thing for a mock Superbowl on week 17.

this should definitely be an option! I would like to have 7 playoff teams on a 14 team league with the 7th seed making it based on highest points among teams finishing 7-14.

I would like to see the ability to have a H2H regular season, with a 2 week points based championship between 4 teams. This could be another option for a customizable playoff.

I agree. I too switched over to Yahoo for my fantasy league; however, I had to do the playoff manually. i wanted to do a 10 team league, 2 divisions, Playoff seeding by record, total points, then head to head. First place team in each division getting a bye. Playoff would stay in own division, like real football, and then have the championship game. I had to do my playoff manually.

Two week playoff matchups. A basic and necessary feature that ESPN has offered for years.

Agree. My 16 team league is currently set up to run like the NFL .5 We have half the number of teams as the NFL with half the number of divisions and half the number of playoff teams. If the NFL goes to 14 playoff teams in 2015 we want to go to half that number as well, thus the desire for 7 playoff teams.
