Playoffs - Odd number of teams
This playoff format would allow for an odd number of teams in the playoffs. Currently, this is not an option for playoff formats.
7-Team playoffs are now available with Yahoo Fantasy Commissioner Plus: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/started-yahoo-fantasy-commissioner-sln36403.html

This is the number 1 issue and its been on here since 2014? The Playoff formats need to be more detailed. For me, If youre in a 14 team league, you should have the option to go 4,6,7, or 8 playoff teams and ALL should have the option for a consolation bracket. 4,6,and 8 are obvious but a 7 team playoff would award a bye to only the top team. In the consolation bracket, you should have 2 options: Winners Advance or Losers Advance. Winners if you give a prize to the consolation winner or for draft purposes, or Losers advance if you do something for the team who comes in dead last. Im not a software engineer or anything, but I feel that expanding the playoff options to include this basis isn't a tall task.

WHY IN THE WORLD DO YOU NOT OFFER CONSOLATION BRACKETS FOR 8 TEAM PLAYOFF LEAGUES?

In a 14 team can we be allowed to skip the bye weeks in the consolation bracket? I want 6 teams in the Championship bracket and 8 in the Consolation bracket. Can this be accommodated?

Yahoo - why lock out Commissioners after the 1st week? I run a bracket where the losers advance. I still won't be able to customize the teams after the 1st week. Either allow a loser-advances option for playoffs or full commissioner customization through all playoff weeks.

You’ve asked for it for years and we’ve finally got it!
Commissioners now have the ability to edit seeds for the first round of the playoffs. This will help leagues that want to implement custom tiebreakers for the players. Some examples we have heard from users:
Set up a divisional playoff bracket (make sure to turn playoff reseeding off if you want this).
Allow top 4 seeds based on record and 5th and 6th seeds are then based on total points.
IMPORTANT: We will open the tool one week before the playoffs for your league and the setting will lock once the games start.
WHERE: This tool will appear under the commish tools as ‘Edit Playoff Seeds’ under the ‘Schedules & Playoffs’ area, in both the web version and the app You can find it by searching ‘Edit Playoff Seeds’ too!
HOW: The tool itself is very self-explanatory, so give it a go! Just remember to save when you’re done shuffling your managers around. This feature is available for all private leagues.
BUT, I’M STILL CONFUSED: Let us know if you have any questions here in the community. It’s new for us too, but we’ll help you get that optimal playoff bracket.
Good luck!

I am just encountering this problem with playoffs approaching. This is ridiculous that we are not allowed full control of playoffs. I am also in a 14 team league with two divisions. Please fix this Yahoo. I love this app over all other formats but this will question our commitment for next year to Yahoo. Please fix asap. Thank you

How was the number one problem on here not fixed yet? All I want to do is get back to using Yahoo if they would just let the commish set up who plays who in the playoffs.....

We play in a 14 team league and would like the option for 7 teams to make the playoffs. It would function exactly like an 8 team playoff format, except the 1st place team after regular season gets a bye in week 14. It is simple, easy to put in place, and allows a 14 team league to simulate a 12 team league where 50% make the playoffs.

I made a similar post a few weeks back. My 16 team league wants a 10 team playoff with 1-6 getting a bye and 7-10 in a wild card round. I have checked and ESPN offers it.. we are jumping ship if the option isn't available for the 2017 season

Yes I love this, I'd love if I can go 7 playoff teams where onnly 1 team gets a bye instead of 2

Make the consolation bracket optional. It screws up true end of year standings when users look at them for the following seasons draft order.

Couldn't agree more. Our league has a 6 team playoff bracket (in a 12 team, 4 division league) where all division winners get seeded 1-4. Seeds 5 and 6 are wild cards based purely on points so that anyone in a tough division or a bad schedule gets by.
Most other sports sites provide this feature, can't imagine why Yahoo hasn't. Any updates on this one?

Yahoo can easy increase the number of teams from 10 to 12.

Football uses 10 as the default for the number of teams in a league and that's why they have the playoffs set up as 4x4
You can always create your own league with the number of teams and playoff settings you want next season.

To be consistent with the default playoff scheme, which Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey uses, Football should use the following, instead of the 4 team playoff (includes a consolation bracket):
The top 6 teams in the league standings after the last week of the Fantasy regular season qualify for a 3-week postseason tournament to determine a league champion.
The next 6 teams in the standings qualify for a consolation bracket to determine 7th through 12th place. The season is over for everyone else.
Teams - 6 championship, 6 consolation
Playoff Weeks - 2 options:
Weeks 14, 15, and 16
Weeks 15, 16, and 17 -

Allow playoff teams to have a 2 week matchup in a single round. Teams play weeks 13/14 for semifinal and 15/16 for a final.
