Playoffs - Odd number of teams
This playoff format would allow for an odd number of teams in the playoffs. Currently, this is not an option for playoff formats.

Came here for this. We'd like 7 team playoffs for our league as well.

The year, 2056. Cars hum through the air using anti-gravity technology developed less than a decade earlier. The average human life expectancy is 256 years, and only because most choose to die by ingesting a life-ending pill; the only thing not yet conquered is boredom.
Well, that, and Yahoo implementing any real substantive change to their fantasy football platform.
I really hope a competitor comes along one of these days and actually puts together reliable real-time stat tracking and a functional, robust and diverse platform.

great idea! I could use it in my league too! Please add this!!

Can you guys please add a playoff setting of 7 teams, 1 bye.
where the top overall seed of the regular season were to earns a bye for the first round of the playoffs instead of playing the 8th seed. after the first round bye the #1 seed would play the winner of the #4 and #5 seed matchup in the 2nd round. while the rest of the playoffs continues the same as if it were on an 8 team playoff setting.
It would be nice to add an incentive to be the top overall seed but I feel like having 2 byes is too much. Cause at the moment my league is 8 team playoffs, no byes. and I am falling into the issue of people tanking late in the season to bottom of the league teams because they dont care or want the #1 seed becuase there is no incentive. I am ware that there is a setting of 6 teams, 2 byes but I feel that is too many byes and too few teams making the playoffs.
If you can please please please add a 7 team, 1 bye setting that would be great and help legitimize the idea of the 7 team, 1 bye playoff setting.
At the very least, there should be an option for 2 week playoff matchups. I have been playing on Yahoo for over 10 years and this is long overdue. Every year this basic feature is left out and disappoints everyone in our league.
There was an attempted solution in 2017. Go down about 7 posts.

This is the number 1 issue and its been on here since 2014? The Playoff formats need to be more detailed. For me, If youre in a 14 team league, you should have the option to go 4,6,7, or 8 playoff teams and ALL should have the option for a consolation bracket. 4,6,and 8 are obvious but a 7 team playoff would award a bye to only the top team. In the consolation bracket, you should have 2 options: Winners Advance or Losers Advance. Winners if you give a prize to the consolation winner or for draft purposes, or Losers advance if you do something for the team who comes in dead last. Im not a software engineer or anything, but I feel that expanding the playoff options to include this basis isn't a tall task.

WHY IN THE WORLD DO YOU NOT OFFER CONSOLATION BRACKETS FOR 8 TEAM PLAYOFF LEAGUES?

For the love of god Yahoo.....please listen to this. Horrible!!!!

In a 14 team can we be allowed to skip the bye weeks in the consolation bracket? I want 6 teams in the Championship bracket and 8 in the Consolation bracket. Can this be accommodated?
Yahoo - why lock out Commissioners after the 1st week? I run a bracket where the losers advance. I still won't be able to customize the teams after the 1st week. Either allow a loser-advances option for playoffs or full commissioner customization through all playoff weeks.
You’ve asked for it for years and we’ve finally got it!
Commissioners now have the ability to edit seeds for the first round of the playoffs. This will help leagues that want to implement custom tiebreakers for the players. Some examples we have heard from users:
Set up a divisional playoff bracket (make sure to turn playoff reseeding off if you want this).
Allow top 4 seeds based on record and 5th and 6th seeds are then based on total points.
IMPORTANT: We will open the tool one week before the playoffs for your league and the setting will lock once the games start.
WHERE: This tool will appear under the commish tools as ‘Edit Playoff Seeds’ under the ‘Schedules & Playoffs’ area, in both the web version and the app You can find it by searching ‘Edit Playoff Seeds’ too!
HOW: The tool itself is very self-explanatory, so give it a go! Just remember to save when you’re done shuffling your managers around. This feature is available for all private leagues.
BUT, I’M STILL CONFUSED: Let us know if you have any questions here in the community. It’s new for us too, but we’ll help you get that optimal playoff bracket.

I am just encountering this problem with playoffs approaching. This is ridiculous that we are not allowed full control of playoffs. I am also in a 14 team league with two divisions. Please fix this Yahoo. I love this app over all other formats but this will question our commitment for next year to Yahoo. Please fix asap. Thank you

How was the number one problem on here not fixed yet? All I want to do is get back to using Yahoo if they would just let the commish set up who plays who in the playoffs.....

This is FIRST ranked. Why oh why are you ignoring this Yahoo?

We play in a 14 team league and would like the option for 7 teams to make the playoffs. It would function exactly like an 8 team playoff format, except the 1st place team after regular season gets a bye in week 14. It is simple, easy to put in place, and allows a 14 team league to simulate a 12 team league where 50% make the playoffs.
I made a similar post a few weeks back. My 16 team league wants a 10 team playoff with 1-6 getting a bye and 7-10 in a wild card round. I have checked and ESPN offers it.. we are jumping ship if the option isn't available for the 2017 season

Yes I love this, I'd love if I can go 7 playoff teams where onnly 1 team gets a bye instead of 2
