Playoffs - Odd number of teams
This playoff format would allow for an odd number of teams in the playoffs. Currently, this is not an option for playoff formats.
7-Team playoffs are now available with Yahoo Fantasy Commissioner Plus: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/started-yahoo-fantasy-commissioner-sln36403.html

Yes, this is a must change. Our league has been using yahoo for 10 years and the lack of ability to customize playoff qualification will force us to change platforms. It could be an addition of a few simple setting parameters for head to head leagues such as: 1) Top X teams in final head to head standings make playoffs , and 2) Top Y remaining teams with top overall points make the playoffs

Head to head matters in the playoffs, not in getting into the playoffs. You get into the playoffs based on how you did against the league, not just one team.

There is an option to have the bottom 4 teams play.
Click on 6 team, then click on 6-10 teams.

You can't have one team get a bye - you'd end up with three teams in your second round (unless you want to put the top seeded team directly into the championship game). If you want to do a five-team playoff, you have to have 4-5 play the first week with 1-2-3 getting byes, then 1-(4,5) and 2-3 play in the semis. It's the exact same number of byes as if you were to do a 6-team championship bracket and a 4-team consolation bracket.

In Head-to-Head Leagues, the tiebreaker should be Head-to-Head Rules. This can follow the same rules as the NFL:
- Head-to-Head Record
- Record in Division
- Record amongst common opponents (in unbalanced schedule leagues)
- Strength of Victory
- Best Net Points in common games
- Coin Toss -

So the way it stands 2nd through 5th make the play-offs plus the division winners. So a division winner could theoretically be 7th overall and take the bye spot with the "Division winners advance and are assigned top seeds" option or still make 7th overall and get a playoff spot over the 6th spot.
Why have a divisions option if only one player from a division is guaranteed a playoff spot?

Also with conferences it will open up divisional championships, give divisions a meaning. Right now there is no point of having a division.. There's a lot of good stuff/ options that can come along with Conferences as of how playoffs are decided and so much more.

I agree. While my preference is letting the top 6 get in, I think this would be a great option to have. What's the point of having divisions if they have no meaning for the playoffs?

This is mind boggling Yahoo hasn't added this option! I really don't understand the concept of having a division when this doesn't exist...

Being able to set your own tiebreaker rules should be one of the most basic options for any FF site. We have been on 4 different sites prior to choosing Yahoo this year and every one of them allowed us to decide what we wanted to use as a tie breaker (we have always used total points) Sadly we went on the recommendation of a few owners to switch to yahoo and we didn't research the rules well enough ahead of time. We never would have chosen Yahoo if we would have known. Even one of the owners who recommended it did not know about it and he is pretty upset because he is tied record wise with two other owners for the division but he is 0-3 within the division so he is in third place. Has has over 200 more points than the guy who is in first but is also 3-0 in the division. It's our own fault and we are stuck with it but it never occurred to us that such a basic option would not be available to us. I doubt we will be back next year. Even ESPN is better and they suck.

Actually, the commish can do this, but it's not a option you can select. The commish can use Commish tools, Edit Points, to manipulate the results of prior games to get the right teams into the playoffs.

It is an option in the public league, but not the default. In Hockey, Baseball, and Basketball, the 6 team playoff is the default.
-
Will commented
I understand that you're asking for this to be the default setting, but this is already an option in private leagues. It's exactly what my league currently does.

To be consistent with the default playoff scheme, which Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey uses, Football should use the following, instead of the 4 team playoff (includes a consolation bracket):
The top 6 teams in the league standings after the last week of the Fantasy regular season qualify for a 3-week postseason tournament to determine a league champion.
The next 6 teams in the standings qualify for a consolation bracket to determine 7th through 12th place. The season is over for everyone else.
Teams - 6 championship, 6 consolation
Playoff Weeks - 2 options:
Weeks 14, 15, and 16
Weeks 15, 16, and 17 -

totally agree; have the same beef as the comish. Currently the 2 option are change previous weeks wins and pts. Don't know about you but this sounds like cheating and changing the actual outcomes of the game. Sounds real ethical. Anyone in their right mind should never give the Commissioner that power. Gentleman above is spot on! Should be overall record, then divisional, then pts for standard leagues. Wish Yahoo had someone actually pick up the phone for once when you try to call. This needs to be discussed with the fantasy department and feel they would all agree for A) its what the NFL does and B) you can't win bets in Vegas by changing outcomes of the game; believes that is called ILLEGAL. Please have Marissa Mayer contact me directly so i can personally discuss this urgent matter. My yahoo address is sps888@yahoo.com

Yes, Yahoo!, can you please look into implementing a system like this!
My league wants to have custom playoff seeding for divisions, or conferences as we have. We are essentially looking to make an AFC and an NFC, but playoff seeding limits the reality of making this change. All the other options in this suggestion are great too, why would you limit the options available to your users?
Please, please, PLEASE!!! Implement this! Thanks!

This is a great idea. Would most certainly use it!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!! I second this emotion. Divisions are pointless without this option. I honestly can't believe it wasn't the first option given when divisions were made an option. Also, there is no reason this option can't be made yet this season. Add it before playoffs begin and it'll work fine.

Will commented
I'm fine with having that as an option ... but luck is going to play an even bigger factor if you want to include all the week 17 benchings.

This is VERY important. I just posted this on my facebook's fantasy football group and we are going to try to vote this up to number one.
