Dynasty/Keepers - Leave league open to allow trading, adds, and drops during the offseason.
This would allow managers to make all league transactions within the platform, including adds, drops, and trades, throughout the year.

Darn, another thread full of immature comments and name calling. To my fellow humans, please be civil. Please consider that there might be reasons for how it works today. For example, might such year-round functionality require too many resources that might interfere with other sports? It's possible. Might there be budgeting issues and scheduling that go well beyond developer teams working on fantasy sports? It's possible. Lots of factors, lots of reasons, lots of unknowns. But most importantly, please be respectful.

Keep fantasy football open year round. It would be great for dynasty/keeper leagues. Would not have to keep track of offseason trades manually and then go back and manually input.

*****'s post is on point...I can edit rosters manually in our keeper baseball league (for preseason player/pick trades), but for some reason Yahoo has left this option out for our football keeper league? This can't be a difficult fix, considering it's an available option in one of your other fantasy products. I mean, I get that it's free, but customization is as important as anything else (if not more so). Just kill this, please: The league has not drafted. You cannot make this action. (Error #156)

Defiantly need to support dynasty format better. I have been using yahoo to host my leagues exclusively for years now. We wanted to have a true dynasty setup and decided to move that league to a different site because you don't offer true dynasty support year round. I pay for the usage of the new site but would gladly pay yahoo if you would pony up and offer what is needed. Please do because I love your site and prefer it over any others I have used.

Yeah, there's a good chance if Yahoo doesn't change this, our keeper league may very well not be using Yahoo. Sad. There's so many things to like about the platform. This one is a killer though. So critical to the fun of a keeper league.
Evolve or go extinct.

Well, Yahoo! We have made no progress have we?! This post is over a year old, and has been the most popular thread for that long as well. Our status is still showing "Gathering Feedback", and no changes have been make to this years version of Fantasy Football '15. I cannot be because there is a logistical issue, or competitive balance issue, because the other sites offer my suggestions as the norm of playing in leagues on their sites.
Example: ESPN (another free fantasy site) is only closed down for approximately 1 week per year and offers Keeper League trading year-round minus the Commissioner controlled cut-off during the playoffs. Then is free fro the commissioner to edit all rosters for trades and draft picks again. It's super awesome, and light years ahead of Yahoo! After over a decade of loyal Yahoo! re-draft leagues in multiple sports, we have considered moving our Keeper League if this didn't get solved this upcoming year. Which makes us get familiar with other sites, and move our re-draft leagues away from Yahoo! too.
Color me disappointed that this is the most popular suggestion thread for over a year, and has seen no results, notifications of action, or explanation of why it cannot change. This could be our last year here after over a decade of -redraft leagues. But for my keeper league, Yahoo! is less superior than other free sites. I have already created an off-Yahoo! website to track our past years results, trades, and upcoming draft pick that were traded. If we spend half of our fantasy year playing off the site of Yahoo! because if its limitations compared to other sites, what is the point of creating league here anymore? And spending half our season playing on my own created site, doesn't help your advertisers either.
I hope to see this in the fixed column soon. Until then, vote if you agree, post if you have something to say, and generally let yourself be heard for change!

I'd like to see this implemented as well. If not the whole year, at least once the game opens allow the commish to adjust rosters to reflect any trades that took place or will take place before the keeper deadline. It'd be nice for the teams to see their roster reflect offseason trades when they go in the system to select their keepers.

Yahoo is completely clueless when it comes to Keeper and Dynasty leagues. It's like Yahoo fantasy is being managed by a bunch of chimpanzees. So the leagues opened early in May. Yipee! We have had several off season trades to enter and the commish has no power to change the end-of-season rosters manually to reflect those off season trades.
To make matters worse, the teams can't even use the site to propose and accept trades. We get an error message that the league hasn';t drafted yet. Hahahahaha!
Of course it hasn't drafted yet... it's the off-season you idiots. Newsflash for the idiots at Yahoo: Trading occurs in Keeper/Dynasty during the OFF-SEASON and it would be nice if you allowed us to at least manually enter those roster changes!
Now everyone has to look at the old rosters that don't reflect those trades. Wow. Yahoo, Are you just stupid or are you doing this on purpose just to irritate everyone in a Keeper or Dynasty league? Yahoo, you really need to get your act together and use some common sense. Really dumb. Might as well keep fantasy football closed until the draft season.

so everyone in my keeper league is signed in to the 2015 league. We all want to do some trading (Hello? Isn't that what keeper leagues do in the off-season, Yahoo?) Yet when we click on trade, this is the stupid message we get:
The league has not drafted. You cannot make this action. (Error #156)
Back to previous pageWhat's the point of opening in May if you are not going to allow a Keeper league to make or enter trades BEFORE the draft in September? The commish can not even MANUALLY alter rosters until after the draft! Wow... Yahoo is really really bad at this. Incredibly stupid.

You've got to keep it open all year for off season trades et. al.

I agree with this proposal. Why is Yahoo the only fantasy site that doesn't make room for Keeper/dynasty leagues to make changes/trades etc. during the entire year? To **** with that. It really is a pain ********** to have to track everything on separate spreadsheet.
Get with the times Yahoo! You are antiquated!

This is a great idea. ESPN does it. Many other sites do it. It's the best thing for Keeper/Dynasty leagues. I have no idea why Yahoo doesn't do it. Just lazy or cheap I guess. Yahoo is 20 years behind the times.

It would be like IR, commish could determine how many reserve spots each team gets.

Expanding rosters doesn't work because there isn't any roster spot that keeps them inactive. You can only expand rosters with more bench spots and that gives owners the opportunity to insert the taxi squad players at will. The point of the taxi squad is to keep them separate so you can take chances on guys with taking up active roster positions. Once you decide to "call someone up" then you would have to drop another player from your team to make room for the taxi squad player.

Please implement the developmental squad spots!! It is as easy as just giving us the "Reserved" position, so they wouldn't count against roster limits.

George Govich commented
I like this, but don't limit the amount of reserved spots.

Yes I don't know why it has to go down. It was nice to have access on 4/30 but I sure wanted to set up the next season the day after the super bowl. Sometimes managers make it near impossible (half of my managers have yet to approve their teams..one click!!)

For keeper leagues it would be cool to be able to have an inactive developmental roster spot or two. Basically at the end of your draft, the league has one or two rounds of picks to pick players to stash for future years. These players can't be used in your active lineup until activated, and once activated, can't be moved back to developmental list. Also you can only have x number of active players on your roster, so to activate someone from this list, you would have to drop a player to make room. For keeper leagues this would give you the ability to speculate on a position for a couple years and see what could happen, without affecting your active roster and weakening your team this year. Christin Michael would be a good example of someone to put on this list. You can still have a full active roster to choose from each weak, but stash him for when he gets an opportunity down the road.
