Playoffs - Customizable consolation bracket.
This feature will allow commissioners to do the following;
- Turn the consolation bracket on or off
- Change the number of teams the league has in the consolation bracket
- Customize the seeding and teams in the consolation bracket.
Currently, the consolation bracket is only available for 4 and 6 team playoff format, it is not able to be turned on and off, and does not allow for the commissioner to change the number of teams in the consolation bracket or customize the teams/seeding.

YES PLESE! I can't believe this isn't an option.

For leagues with a custom draft order, there's an easy fix. Just use final league standings for all non-playoff teams. I've been doing this for 15 years.

Agreed. Locking eliminated teams isn't sufficient, my league complains about this because they still have a matchup to play. Comissioners should have the option to turn off the consolation bracket to let those players know their season has ended once they've missed the playoffs (just like real football)

Completely agree. I realize that some leagues use it, but mine does not. The draft order for the following year for non-playoff teams is determined by final standings. The consolation bracket simply skews the final standings. So, simply give commissioner's the option to turn consolation bracket on or off. Going through each team and benching players as commissioner is a pain. Just give the option.

8-team playoff option NEEDS to have a Consolation Bracket for teams 9-12. This is a no-brainer. fix it, Yahoo.

I agree consolation bracket should be an option.
Teams that are eliminated from the playoffs in a cash league should not be allowed to make adds and drops.

Consolation bracket should include all teams that do not qualify for the Championship bracket. Then allow the option to set it to have losers advance in effort to find out the Greatest Loser.
Nobody plays to see who can finish in 7th, 8th, or 9th. We want be able to work backwards to find out who is the ultimate loser.

I run a 12 team league with an 8 team playoff however for the 4 unlucky members there season ends after week 12. I think it would be a good idea to have the option for a 4 team consolation bracket extending their seasons two more weeks so they are still engaged for the rest of the season.

It took me as a shock too that they didn't include the last two teams in the consolation bracket. The last place team in my league scored in the top half of the league but got pistol-whipped by his schedule, doesn't make sense to exclude him from the playoffs.

You need to give the commissioner a lot more power! I can't stand how the entire consolation bracket has a bye in week 14. I'd rather have them start in 14 and be finished after week 15. Also you need way more options for tie breakers. Division record should not matter more than high score overall. Also high score should not matter more than head to head match up if it's in different divisions. The way yahoo does this is so messed up. Also I've been saying this for years. You need fractional points for field goals! Come on YAHOO.

In 14 team leagues, allow all teams not in the winners bracket to participate in the consolation bracket. 6 & 8 instead of 6, 6, and 2 automatically out

Currently my league has 14 teams and 6 of them make the playoffs. However because of that the consolation bracket also only has 6 teams, forcing two teams to sit out.

The commish can’t edit teams in the playoffs if it’s a cash league.
This would be a very welcome feature. Down with the consolation bracket!

This suggestion is mostly for consolation brackets. Right now, in a 12 team league with top 6 seeds making the winners bracket, seeds 7 and 8 get byes in the first round of the consolation bracket. They are then set up to face the winners of the 9/12 and 10/11 matchups.
This essentially eliminates seeds 7 and 8 from losing the consolation bracket and coming in dead last. In leagues where the person in last place has a "punishment" for losing it basically makes it so that two teams check

Can you please add a Consolation Bracket for the 8 team playoff option. This remarkably helps in preventing managers from giving up on their season if they have been eliminated from the playoffs. Thank you

There's a way to stop bottom tier teams from deliberately tanking in the consolation bracket, or dropping stud players (since you cant auto-lock them if they are in the consolation), and just maybe get them to care about winning during consolation playoff weeks. Here's how I handle it.
Our teams draft the following year in reverse order of the previous years standings, excepting the consolation bracket, who will draft IN ORDER of final standing. It looks like this:
(I have a 10 team league, with a 6 team playoff, 4 team consolation)
Draft Pick - Previous Finish
1 - 7th place (the winner of the consolation)
2 - 8th
3 - 9th
4 - 10th
5 - 6th
6 - 5th
7 - 4th
8 - 3rd
9 - 2nd
10 - 1st (winner of the league) -

The consolation bracket should be optional.

I was about to post this when I saw your thread. I agree. It is dumb that we don't have the option to turn off non-playoff consolation games. It's not like last year the NY Giants and the Browns were playing each other in January. Give us the option to turn off consolation games.

The way my league gets around this is to do the draft order based on reverse order of regular season finish....taking the playoffs and consolation bracket out of the equation.

good idea. Gotta love the post by "anonymous" below (obviously a Yahoo employee) who just throws it back in the face of the person making the request to do it himself. So typical of Yahoo. Moron.
