Playoffs - Customizable consolation bracket.
This feature will allow commissioners to do the following;
- Turn the consolation bracket on or off
- Change the number of teams the league has in the consolation bracket
- Customize the seeding and teams in the consolation bracket.
Currently, the consolation bracket is only available for 4 and 6 team playoff format, it is not able to be turned on and off, and does not allow for the commissioner to change the number of teams in the consolation bracket or customize the teams/seeding.

@Nick: You don't need Yahoo! to set up your consolation brackets; just set them up yourself and inform the bottom eight teams and let them play it out. Business as usual.

There has never been a consolation bracket for the 8 team option. You may be thinking of the 6x6 format.

Agreed! This is a joke. Needs to be added!!!!

We've had the same league for 3 years - 14 teams, with 8 teams making a 3-week playoff and the next 4 making a consolation bracket. Our settings haven't changed, and the bracket is gone now. Why? It's very important for our year-to-year management, and honestly, keeps it fun for everyone. Let's get that back.

Unfortunately no. The bracket formats have been available for the commish and all members of the league all season for review.

The 8 team option has never had a consolation bracket for the other 8 teams on Yahoo! You must have been playing on another site.
The greatest number of teams that make the playoffs is 12 and that is by using the 6x6 format.

We have a 10 team league with 6 making the playoffs and the remaining going into a consolation bracket. Unlike real football, we like to keep all the owners involved and having something to play for until our SuperBowl.
Please bring back the consolation bracket.

I have been using Yahoo for my league for years - this is the FIRST year they removed the consolation bracket when 8 teams make the playoffs.
Terrible decisions - my league is a keeper league. We use the consolation bracket to determine draft order - if you win the consolation, you win 1st overall pick. Helps keep the league competitive throughout the year and prevent tanking from managers that do not have a chance to make playoffs.

My 16-team keeper league just got screwed by a poor decision made by Yahoo Fantasy football staff.
For the past 5+ years, my league has had 8 teams make the playoff bracket and 8 teams slotted into a consolation bracket. To fight against late season tanking and to keep every week competitive....for the teams that will not make the playoffs, the consolation bracket was used to determine draft order for the following year.
Example: if you win the consolation bracket, you win the first overall draft pick the following year. If you lose in the consolation final, you get 2nd overall and so on.
For some reason this year - Yahoo Fantasy made the decision to eliminate a consolation bracket when an 8 teams make the playoffs. A "Yahoo chat specialist" informed me that a consolation bracket is only possible if only 6 teams made the playoffs.
WHY would you make this decision? WHY would a consolation bracket not be available? It makes ZERO sense. Now I have a number of angry managers to deal with, because they are expecting a consolation bracket to determine draft order.
Unfortunately, if Yahoo does not make an 8-team playoffs + consolation bracket possible - I will have to take my league to another platform.
Please give us flexibility, what an awful decision.

I can only set the commish tools to allow for a consolation round if the playoffs are set for 6 players? This is the league's first year on yahoo and this is throwing our members into fits as this has impact on how we set our next year's draft order. Is there any way to have this added in? On a semi-urgent basis (insert concerned looking commish emoji here)

Our league would very much like the same thing - effectively it's an inverse bracket. 11 and 12 seeds get "byes" in the first round for being so terrible in the regular season, and the losers "advance" in the bracket. The entire purpose of the consolation bracket is to figure out who finishes dead last for the year, but can also operate like this.
13 week regular season
Week 14: 11 and 12 on bye. 7 plays 10, 8 plays 9. Losers "advance" in the consolation bracket. Winners move on to the "Top of the Bottom" game in week 15.
Week 15: "Top of the Bottom" game between winners in week 14 to determine the best of the losers bracket. Week 15 losers play 11 and 12. Winners of those two games are simply done. Losers of those two games move on to the Toilet Bowl in week 16.
Week 16: Only consolation game this week is between losers of week 15, with the loser of the game becoming the loser of the loser's bracket and subject to any punishment your league has. We've always had to rig the scoring to make this the result in our league and it's been very messy. But inverse seeding and "losers advancing" is something fairly commonplace in other leagues. Furthermore, it keeps people participating through the end of the season. Nobody wants to finish DFL!

In our (12 team) league, we punish the last place team. Besides that, positions 7-11 don't really matter. Can we get the option to make the consolation bracket (or losers bracket) determine the last place team? Something that would make the losers advance? The champion and the loser will be determined the same week.

Totally agree on this. Have been asking for this for years!

Do your division winners get a first round bye?

To be consistent with the default playoff scheme, which Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey uses, Football should use the following, instead of the 4 team playoff (includes a consolation bracket):
The top 6 teams in the league standings after the last week of the Fantasy regular season qualify for a 3-week postseason tournament to determine a league champion.
The next 6 teams in the standings qualify for a consolation bracket to determine 7th through 12th place. The season is over for everyone else.
Teams - 6 championship, 6 consolation
Playoff Weeks - 2 options:
Weeks 14, 15, and 16
Weeks 15, 16, and 17 -

I want to be able to schedule our toilet bowl (losers of consolation bracket) game on week 17 for extra punishment.

We have a "Toilet Bowl" in my league for dead last place. We also have a championship bracket as does everyone... and those who don't make either, play in a consolation bracket for points and total wins on the season, that may determine draft order or something else. Let me edit the schedule, matchup, seeds, byes, everything playoff schedule related. I can adjust all of that in the regular season, but not playoff. Pretty please!

As the top two teams play for the Super Bowl have the two bottom teams play for the Toilet Bowl, and even come up with a trophy for them as well. It would help keep everyone involved all the way to the end of the season
