Scoring - Team Position Points
This scoring setting credits all points scored by a specific position on an NFL team to the manager who rosters them. Most commonly, team QBs are used in this scenario. For example, if Russell Wilson gets hurt, the team that started him would get the points from Geno Smith for the rest of the game. Currently we don't offer this setting.

Whoever supports this idea supports trophies for everybody even if they are terrible. Waaaaaah! My quarterback got hurt, it's not fair.

Spontaneous injuries are part of the game. If your QB goes down, tough luck. Lame idea.

Then it would have to be Team RBs, Team WRs, team everything.

when your quarterback goes down in the first quarter you should be able to get your backup qb's points. this doesnt change the dynamic of drafting a cam newton. its the same thing just gives everyone a fair chance week to week when a qb goes down.

Its an average idea. would not bother me either way. some times you have the luck and root for your opponent's fantasy football QB to get hurt. all in fun, all part of the game injuries. but whats not cool is not locking in scoring for private cash games. I don't agree with that!

Let me elaborate. Let's say a league has 16 teams and we want to start every quarterback for every team (chaos, I know). So when we draft each fantasy team gets 2 starting quarterbacks to start. Ideally we would only allow 2 quarterbacks maximum for a team to own so no one would be down a quarterback. But what happens if one gets injured or sits? There is where the problem lies. We have used this system before a few years ago to great success on ESPN. I would just like the option there (our league switches settings every season to keep it fresh).

This option is very important for certain situations. ESPN has the option for this which is why I might move my league there. The next is copied from their settings website.
Quarterback (QB): If this option is selected the league will draft individual NFL quarterbacks. If the QB slot is selected the league cannot use the TQB option. The maximum number of starters at the QB slot is six (6).
Team Quarterback (TQB): All quarterbacks from a specified NFL team are included in this unique scoring option. If selected, the league will draft a team and will receive stats for all QBs who play for the NFL team. So if you have the Patriots QBs and Brady gets hurt in the first quarter, you'll get all the points put up by his replacement(s) for the remainder of the game. The max number of starters at the TQB slot is four (4).NOTE: If your league is set for each team to have a Team QB, you will be able to place the Team QB only in the Team QB position. So, if your league offers an Offensive Player Utility slot, you cannot place a Team QB in the Offensive Player Utility roster spot. However, if your league is set for individual QB players, you would be able to place your starting QB (Tom Brady for example) in the QB roster slot AND you could place your backup QB (David Garrard) in the Offensive Player Utility slot.

Dear Mr. Anonymous,
I too have posted this idea. This is our League's 16th season with Yahoo! and the majority of our league agrees with you. This is a great idea for 1 QB leagues. Ideally, wouldn't all FF franchises like to have the ability to operate like the same way NFL GMs and coaches operate. For the first ten commenters that have no idea how this works, let me explain it to them:
1. For 96% of all NFL games, the starting QB takes every snap unless an injury takes place. WRs, RBs, TEs do come in and out of the game based on down and situation. That is one reason most FFLs have multiple WRs, RBs, etc. More from those positions to pull from.
2. No NFL team starts two QBs.
3. (With "Team QB") If team QB is selected as a league setting, then during your draft you could select, for example, QB Washington. You then own every player listed as a QB that plays for Washington.
4. Scenario: Cousins listed as Questionable, then ends up not starting. RG3 starts, gets hurt in the 1st quarter. Colt McCoy finishes the game. You would get the combined points from RG3 and McCoy.
5. Scoring example, same game: RG3 pitches to Morris. Morris then throws a 10 yd TD to a wide open Reed. QB Washington receives no points for the play because the initials "QB" are not listed next to Morris or Reed.)To Yahoo!, we would like a one QB lineup that protects the most valuable asset. Not a two QB lineup that does not mimic the NFL, and, of course, football at all levels.
Sounds pretty good, doesn't it? -

Injuries are a part of the game.

Make a TEAM QB position. That way if the QB gets hurt in the 1st Q, there is still reason to watch the matchup

Every team in the NFL will have a QB on every offensive play. Not always a RB. Not always a WR. In a one QB fantasy league I'd like "the backup plays if the starter gets injured option."

Should we also have team RBs and team WRs and team TEs?
.
Team QBs will be a mess if / when the Wildcat QB becomes popular again. -

This article sums up a great solution to TD scoring being poached or vultured by back up RBs, as well as the loss of RBs and/or QBs to injury, especially mid-game. I would like the option of allowing my league to draft team RB stables (maximum 3) and team QB stables (maximum 2) for seasons beginning in 2016. I have participated in leagues which allow this and it makes the playing field more level for all managers.

Certainly to implement this would be with the caution that if the backup was on another roster, the owner of the player who was injured would be out of luck.
Based upon this, that some owners would be lucky (because no other owner had the backup player) and some owners would be unlucky (because another owner did own the backup), I think in the end, this idea doesn't work. To me, it would create an unlevel playing field which would be worse than the problem it is trying to correct.

Seriously might be one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. I suppose you want the back up rb, wr, te and k too?

sounds too complicated for me. one of my managers thinks she should have all players for a team (e.g. if you have Foster you have all Houston running backs). Those are the breaks and chances you takes Our league has 3 flex to even out one players bad performance.

the example was used in the RG3 case, how would it work If I had RG3 and a someone else had Cousins? Do we both get the back up points, or does the person who has Cousins get the points. I say keep it the same. If a player goes down you are SOL for the day. That's the whole point of (FF). Oh I like the option to take a my starting RB who stinks that day and to put in one on the bench who has scored a lot. I may be champ every year with this concept.

Then you are taking the fun/challenge out of playing fantasy. If you did it for QB's, you would have to do it for all positions.
Sometimes your starter gets hurt. Dems da breaks
