League Chat - General feedback or feature requests
General feedback and feature requests for league chat.
As of 3/30/23, we've recently made some design changes and added a few new awesome features to the Fantasy Chat experience across all platforms. We're hoping these features make the transition from message boards to chat easier and want you to know that there will be more updates on the way. Check out some of the updates below:
Web:
- Added message threading
- Added message pinning
- Added new reactions
- Updated the overall design: Font, avatars
- Tabs for bot generated messages and Yahoo updates (Draft picks, Free Agent acquisitions, Waivers)
iOS:
Available in app version 10.47 and above

Massively disappointing with the message board being replaced with this feature. In no way, shape or form is this an improvement. it actually makes the user experience less enjoyable.

Not needed - but the new coloring/layout/design of the webpage is HORRENDOUS!!!! You can't find anything - nothing sticks out as a "Header". AWFUL!!

If you create a poll in the chat - people shouldn't see the results prior to voting, and they shouldn't be allowed to change their vote

you need a separate icon for posting the note when you are finished writing it. I can't make a list of teams/picks .... such as ...
1 - WAS
2 - CAR ... etc
WHY? Cuz hitting Enter on my keyboard after typing line 1 - WAS, which should take me to the next line to type 2 - CAR.. ...hitting Enter on my keyboard will instead POST the msg with only that 1 line!!. My only workaround is to make my list in my Commish Note, then copy/paste to the msg box of the chat & post it, then go back & delete the commish notePLEASE FIX IT ASAP!!!!

This was a terrible idea. Commish on 22nd year run on keeper league on Yahoo and the league is calling to move to another site. This is making it very difficult to navigate important messages. Message board needs to return, as I fear this will be the last season on Yahoo if it doesn't return.

How is the pre-season rank determined? Why is it the same as not only the 2022 average rank but also the 2021 average rank?

I don't know why they removed the message system from the previous years, in the current chat it is difficult to separate important topics in the league such as trades, or decisions that are made knowing them by specific topics such as the message system that was used in past years

In all the leagues I am in, everyone is extremely unhappy about there being no message boards. They are used to vote for new rules, let people know you are interested in trades, tell people about problems in the league, congratulate people when they have a good week, and discuss the very sport we are involved in. Yahoo has taken away a very important part of Fantasy sports by taking away the Message boards. Bring them back!

Please separate chat from roster moves. I can't tell whether someone is trying to communicate with the league or just dropping an injured player. I play in multiple leagues and with the new chat system, all I can see is that something happened in one of my leagues 2 hours ago. No specifics. Not worth checking anymore just to see that someone dropped or added a player.

The previous UI and aesthetic perfectly matched the Fantasy app UI and were clean and easy to read. This new UI looks out of place and is more suited for the AOL comment section than a fantasy chat! Please kindly fix!

in all the leagues I'm in the managers use the message boards extensively .. everyone I play with is unhappy with not having them .. find a way Yahoo .. the boards are important for conducting league business especially when in a league with members from many different time-zones

Due to shortcomings of other areas of the Yahoo platform (roster size limitations and number of keepers), leagues frequently use the message board to conduct offline business to create true dynasty leagues. A number of leagues post their rules on the message board, discuss changes for future years there, and actually conduct drafts and keepers beyond the limit of 30 (including minor league players which fit in the NA category). Eliminating this as an option makes Yahoo's platform no better than ESPN's, and substandard compared to Fantrax which offers deeper rosters and more robust drafting options that reduce the need for message boards.
And at least those other platforms still have the message board option. You've reduced the ability to communicate, which is one of the fun parts about fantasy sports. This was a terrible decision, and I recommend you reinstate message boards immediately.

For those who don't know yet: it looks like the message boards will be gone in 23/24 because the contract with the provider expires. Indeed, Baseball 2023 is already without message board.
Yahoo, please find a way to renew the contract with the message board provider or find a new one. Especially for leagues with concepts that need to keep track of trades, prospect farms, offline drafts, player swaps, protections lists etc etc, this would be devastating. The league chat is garbage, it's not a replacement.

Please allow tables or images. Every year I put together a table that gives the probability of each team finishing in different positions, it's not really possible to update the league through the message board week by week with updates.

Image sharing/file sharing in the Android app is not implemented properly. Most apps allow you to browse files. Fantasy does not, it seems to only look in the camera app and in unedited screenshots, and then offers those limited files only in reverse chronological order.
If you're not going to allow manual file browsing, at least have the app look in more folders than just camera and unedited screenshots.
If you edit/crop a screenshot, the image is not offered. If you download an image from twitter, web browser, other app, not offered. Every messenger app I've ever used has this functionality except for yahoo. Please fix.

Can't even post images. Let alone a file if you want to share something to the league like a spreadsheet. How is this a thing in the year 2022?

Time for an update for team logos! The current helmet color schemes are great but it's time for additions! Maybe the ability to customize color combos (backgrounds-to-helmet).
Rest of the platform is great!

Include an option on individual FF league sites for commissioner to post a weekly "article", to include ability to insert GIFs, web links, etc. The league message board is simply not the same thing. Our previous league host (My Fantasy League) offered this and those articles were the league's foundation and glue. It kept owners interested and invested.
