  4. Phrasing of sentence

In the article (Australian charged over ****, murder of 2-year-old) the sentence below could have been better phrased.

A man was Friday charged with the **** and murder of a two-year-old Australian girl, allegedly attacking her over a 20-minute period when her mother was out of the house.

A man was charged on Friday with the **** and murder of a two-year-old Australian girl, allegedly attacking her over a 20-minute period when her mother was out of the house.

  6. Redundant words

In the article (Chinese ship searching for missing Malaysia plane detects signal) the frequency of the pulse signal was described as 37.5 KHz per second.
This is wrong as KHz is 1000 cycles per second. That means the 'per second' in the description is redundant.

In the article (MH370 cover-up alleged as 'black box' locator nears) there is the following sentence.

'............after the plane disappeared that its radar had picked up a unidentified object moving toward the Indian Ocean....'

It should have been 'an unidentified object'.

In the article (In California, chefs fight for bare-hand contact) there are 3 sentences which could have been better phrased.
    1. '....restricts his employees' in their craft.'. Is there a missing word or is the apostrophe in 'employees'' added wrongly?
    2. '.....has recommended a hands off approach in restaurants and bars....'. There should be a hyphen in 'hands off'.

"You have consumers who are looking for glove use everyday."

  10. Finance section - Commodities prices

It seems on your display of commodities prices do not reflect the actual prices eg Gold $1,260 where as the actual is $1,365 or so. So too is the Silver price...

  12. Grammatical mistakes

In the article (Authorities brush off claims by unheard-of group taking responsibility for missing plane) published by Yahoo, Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein was quoted as saying the following 2 sentences.

'There is no sound or credible grounds to justify their claims'.

'The spreading of such speculative reports are an unwelcome distraction to the search and rescue personnel'.

In the first sentence either the verb 'is' or the noun 'grounds' is wrong.

In the second sentence the verb should be 'is' not 'are' as it is related to the noun 'spreading'.

I wonder which party is the one…

  13. Malaysia MP under fire

I find the above news being highlighted everyday since Mar, 8, a day after the disappearance of MH370, is somewhat disgusting. Haven't you got any other news to highlight? Such news is no longer relevant considering the calamity we are facing. Don't politicise news or the consequence is that you lose customers.

  16. Please review pictures before posting them along with a headline!

In your online report "Worst Sports Outfit Fails", dated 23 February 2014, article 7/34, the picture of the ungracious split in British bobsledder, Gillian Cooke, skintight Lycra bodysuit was attached along with the above headline on your main page. I felt that the image was inappropriate as Yahoo is an online news platform across ages. As an educator, I encourage my students, aged 8-12, to keep up with current affairs via different media tools. I would not have wanted them to see that rude picture of someone's bare rear. Please look into my suggestion of reviewing pictures before posting or…
