Ads Make Writing Emails Extremely Difficult
I am working on transferring my accounts to another email server because reading and replying to emails is near impossible due to the ads. My computer (all of the computers I use) slow down dramatically because of the constant reloading of ads on the right hand side of the screen.
Please consider changing your advertising format or make "Yahoo Mail Classic" available again.

Then you use an adblock to allow the mail to actually be usable and you get bombarded every three seconds with a popup advising you that you are using an adblock... and that they 'need' it to be whitelisted otherwise the mail will not work (mine has worked perfectly with the adblock, which is only set to work on Yahoo becuase it is them who are unbearable with it. I have already started forwarding all my mail to a new account because I can't handle the fact that they refuse to do anything about it and 'encourage' their users to provide feedback which they obviously never actually read!

Agreed. My CPU and Disk both spike to 100% utilization when I try to check my Yahoo mail, but when I check my Gmail the utilization on both stays around 3 or 4 percent. I understand that Yahoo needs ad revenue, but please consider switching to ads that won't completely bog down my system. I've had this account for 18 years, but I will delete it if it continues being unusable.

I totally agree with you. I consider my Yahoo account the main and official email for me for more than 10 years. Because of the ads and their problems such as slowing down the explorer, I started thinking seriously to transfer to my another email server.
For Yahoo email owners and developers, I would like to say all email service providers haven't done what you done and moreover they have given us extra services like cloud services all of these for free. I hope you change your policy and look for another method to gain money or you will lose your clients and repetition.
At the end, I like to mention that I have written this comment because we love Yahoo and I would like to stay forever with them. We would like from them to change their mind or we don't have another choice except transferring to another email server.
i have been using yahoo mail for over 10 years, even when they had 2 security issues, i continued with yahoo mail.
But now i am seriously considering moving to another email app as the ads constantly loading and re-loading are creating a significant lag in typing emails. it's so frustrating to use yahoo mail now.
I know there is an ad-free option, but i send/receive 3 -4 emails on average daily,so paying for ad-free at >$8 dollars a month does not make financial sense.
I understand yahoo needs the ads for income, but can you at least make them static so it does not intrude into the user experience?
thanks for listening

I have the same problem, and commented on this several months ago.
Since this thread is under review, may I suggest one thing?
All of Yahoo staff -- engineers, management and executives and Verizon staff since they are acquiring Yahoo -- should be required to also use the same system we users are using. Not the Yahoo Corp version mail. The free, video ads mail version.
That should be simple right? There's no engineering change, no codebase change, no $$ expenditure involved. Just a change in company policy that insiders need to eat the same dog food served.

Rather than commenting on the ignorance of Yahoo users, you just showed your ignorance by recommeneding ad blockers like Ublock Origin.
Guess what? They don't work. Oh you'll block ads alright. You'll also block CRITICAL functionality Yahoo mail needs. I've used them and things referenced on many other servers and services don't work right. Also, many functions WAIT for things on other servers that are blocked.
Stop the pop ups or I will move to another provider!!!
JUST FIX IT, PLEASE. IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR ME TO TYPE ANYTHING. IT'S FRUSTRATING.
Amen, fix the problem
Ditto!!! And charging us $50 to stop the ads is more than ridiculous. I'm also working to transfer my email account, even though it's going to be a huge headache -- but worth it to not have my email home page cluttered with a huge ad at the top, and then an ad for the first email. That is simply ridiculous!! And intrusive!!

Ok fellas download
1) Privacy Badger by eff.org
2) Ublock Origin
and finally do read the f**king manual.
I am embarrassed by the lack of knowledge of Yahoo users.

Writing, sending emails has become absolutely deplorable. Typing is constantly interrupted or stopped altogether, probably delayed while your ads keep loading. One can't simply proceed in a normal, prompt fashion. Also, if one deletes an email he has to wait for the stupid message "Deleted/Undo" to disappear before he can proceed. Who needs this? If he wants to undo he can simply go to Trash.
Nothing more to add than that I concur with these comments. I currently want to reply to an email, but the ads constantly reloading is slowing my progress. How slow? I'm already 12 minutes in and I only typed 30 words so far. This is extremely frustrating and very upsetting.
This is more likely from the video adverts that appear while viewing an empty folder. The code/script is still being loaded and running in the background. There are many users with extreme issues they cannot compose email or even browse folders. These video adverts need to be removed ASAP because they are litterally killing Yahoo Mail on a daily basis.
I certainly hope this is under review!!. It's bad enough Yahoo's security is so low they were hacked, now I can't even compose and e-mail with out it freezing up every time an ad streams in. I don't mind the ads, just fix it so they are compatible.
