I use Hotmail/outlook web based email at work, it breaks every now and then, but it does allow me to organise my emails into subfolders, which are always on the left side bar.
Please bring this feature to Yahoo, it would be very useful.
I used to be able to create subfolders under the main folders, now I cannot, what happened, please bring back!
I am loving the new Yahoo mail, it is just awesome.
I would like to have option of adding sub folders to my existing folder, that will make my life a lot easier.
Also, if there can be some option to add a conversation as priority, I know there is option to mark it as star, but I use it for something that I quickly need to find so if we can have an option to add a conversation as priority that will be great. There are few conversations that are important but not important enough to be marked as star.
I hope I am making sense.
Come on folks - it's time to have sub-folders!
Please provide capability to create subfolders in Yahoo email. It will be so helpful! Thank you and looking forward to this new addition.
The more people requesting being able to pub sub-folders under each main folder, the more likely Yahoo will listen and make this feature available to us. Right now, everything is a main folder and I have to list my folders with the name of the main folder and add the year as I divide up what's stored in my folders by the year or make a new folder annually so that it's easier to tell what year I'm looking for when going back to check an email.
We need sub-folders
Folder in a folder in a folder in a folder (like in outlook.mail)
enable us to create sub-folders for better organization
Sub folders for the folders would be nice to keep emails organized in groups
The ability to create a sub-folder within an existing folder in order to shorten the view of my list to main titles
Since your redesign... YAHOO is much better,
BUT WE STILL MISS SUB FOLDERS.
Please UPGRADE ;o)))
Can you make sub folder option for yahoo mail folder so we can organize mail better way. Gmail has this option.
Will Yahoo! Mail allow the creation of sub-folders within a Folder anytime in the future?
I have a lot of mail folders that would be much easier to manage if I could split them up - for instance, in my "Friends" folder I could have a sub-folder for each friend. This would make it easier to find emails that I save (and I save a LOT of emails!!). Would it be possible to add this feature?
You really need to add nesting folders. One level of folders simply is not enough to organize all the emails people receive today. This is such a basic email feature. Its inexplicable that Yahoo mail does not support.
It's frustrating to have a lot of folders all relating to the same general thing but having to have them all as separate main folders which then takes up A LOT OF SPACE making it harder to find and longer strolling down the page. If subfolders were implemented at yahoo, you would have the option, using a drop down arrow, to show all of the folders under one main heading or to hide / minimize them. this would help tremendously.
I have a large number of folders. They all have emails in them. I would like the ability to move a folder into another folder. For instance, create a folder called 2012, and move all the other folders specific to 2012 into that mast folder. Then, when you go into the 2012 folder, you would see all your other folders inside it.
upport Sub-folders under Main folders in Yahoo Mail. I want to organize emails in categories. There is a valid reason why other email programs support a sub-folder feature: because it allows for much more efficient organization beyond everything living on one level alphabetically.
I am loving the subfolders in HOTMAIL!
There needs to be a way to organize your folders into categories and subcategories.
Why can't I make sub-folders in my e-mails - stop changing everything!
please add a feature for subfolders, I know you have been saying that this was possible over 7 years ago and its still not here. I maybe one of the few, but maybe have a business version of yahoo email that allows more functionality like the kind of features that you could get in outlook 2002. I know asking for things like current feature sets maybe out of scope. But make your email great and user freidnly again and people will start to come back to yahoo.
As it stands now, my Yahoo! Mail folder list is longer than my arm! Yahoo! seems to think that the majority of its users want fancy colors and themes which seems to be where most of the re-design is focused. WRONG! NESTED FOLDERS! NESTED FOLDERS! NESTED FOLDERS! NESTED FOLDERS! NESTED FOLDERS! Did I mention Nested Folders?
I suggest giving the ability of adding sub-folders to the folders in the inbox. I have many folders in my inbox, and it would be great to minimize the number by creating folders inside others based on their categories.
help us organize better our emails. Without subfolders, you end up with 10's or 100's of folders and it's unmanageable - and you get to develop rejection on Yahoo and start looking at other products.
So say I have a folder for clients, with that folder I can have the folders for each client and a little arrow to reveal the nested folders. Or I'm applying for jobs on a bunch of sits, I can have nested folders for the various responses, or I have e-mails from sites I belong to, linkedin, facebook, etc i can nest those by site in a master folder.
I'm using Yahoo+ for years!!
I think it's about time Yahoo will do something about the sub folders issue.
So many requests from yahoo mail users and it seems like you don’t give a…........
PLEASE give that issue the appropriate priority!!!
Sub Folders would be really nice as they same with searching as there less main folders.
As one keeps adding folkders, the list gets very long.
Scrolling to find the folder of interest becomes tedious.
Can you nest them (at least 2 levels) so that folders can be grouped into categories & the top level folder can be given a category name etc ?
This will speed up finding the right folder !!!
sub folders in yahoo mail required urgently. Also for sorting mails 3 to 4 stars of different colors are necessary. currently only one yellow star is available.
We need to be able to make sub-folders in Yahoo Mail!
Having to create a folder for anything new is wasteful and too time consuming! What is needed, is to be able to create sub-folders within folders of similar subjects! Make it easier for us folks to organize our folders/sub-folders!!
A main folder could be travel. Within the travel folder could be folders for each trip I am planning. This would shorten the main folder list while still enabling me to keep each trip in a separate folder.
it doesn't work properly, it is slow and it is impossible to use sub-folder :-(
please please please, put back the previous version that was working fine!!!!!!!!!
It would be very helpful to be able to make a subfolder in a folder for further sorting of mails.
Make sub folders or nesting available in order to better organize emails...
Subfolders? Should just be drag & drop to move emails around!!
In order to better organize my emails, I would like the ability to create a folder with sub folders within that folder. I can do that with Comcast emails. Why shouldn't I be able to do that with Yahoo Email?
As far as I can tell, Yahoo has still not addressed the sub-folder issue which has been requested for years. With all the other recent negative feedback, gmail looks like the best choice.
My folders are getting messy. I would love it if you could provide the feature to do sub folders within folders, even if it is only one level down. Thanks.
better to create new sub folders to move important or unwanted emails
would like to create sub-folders
I did switch to gmail for the option of using subfolders. I would love for yahoo to be able to create a folder then create sub folders off of the new folder.
It sure would be helpful if YAHHOO whould fix the FOLDERS to allow sub-folders. When are the going to wake up and give their users what they want?
Creating sub-folders is a fundamental email function. How can this not be available in Yahoo. I have been with Yahoo for a very long time but will likely start to convert of to either gmail or outlook.
There should be an option to Sub-Folder. For instance, I would like to make a '2013 Folders' folder, and have the option to drag all of my 2013 folders into it, so we have a fresh slate for our business 2014 without eliminating 2013's organization, and having a less clogged email folder selection.
Cannot create a new folder with your new look it is taking along time
using the old yahoo it was quick to create a new folder it seems to get worse everytime
Sub folders would also be a great idia
Some topics require sub folders in order to avoid making folder under folder under folder. This would be very helpful and clean full email.
Sub-folders are very much needed.....where is the feature?
how about sub-folders inside a folder. Makes it easier to organize!
Hi, one thing I wish Yahoo had...in the email folders, "sub" folders would be such a welcome addition. Some of us have many sub folders for one heading folder...would absolutely love it!!! thank you
I would find sub-folders SO useful so that I wouldn't have to have 40 folders open at a time and I could put old work folders in to just one folder to keep it, but neat and tidy.
In this day and age I would have thought that being able to create sub folders within folders was a basic "good practice" idea, rather than having to create numerous individual ones'!
Really is about time.....also like some of the other enhancements with themes etc.
Please introduce the option of creating sub-folders for better content organization e.g:
Many "word of the day" subscriptions could easily be organized in the main folder "word of the day lists" and then in sub-folders such as "Oxford word of the day", "Merriam-Webster word of the day" etc.
Ability to create a folder in a a primary folder
I work in a field where I organize my emails by project, it would be great to have sub folders for inactive projects or completed projects so that my list of folders isnt 100 items long and it would be much easier to find the active projects while still maintaining my organizational system.
Why can't I have sub-folders? Makes organizing things much, much easier...
i would like to be able to create a head-folder (let's say - traveling), and within that folder to create other sub-folders (let's say- spain, canada, us etc) for separate subjects within the big one.
i looked at your advice and answers and saw nothing relevant.
Sub folders make for easy organization.
I know others have said it, but it needs to be said again! I'd really love the have sub-folder capability. It would make organization so much easier!
I want to store past emails in monthly folders. This works well for a year or so, but then I want to be able to put all one year's email folders into another folder for that year, eg, all 2013 monthly folders into a single 2013 folder, in order to tidy up the folder list. It's currently not possible to move folders into folders. Please can we have this facility?!
Nested email folders feature would be nice; for clarification...the ability to add sub folders within a folder.
PLEASE OPTION TO CREATE SUB- FOLDRES
As now the existing folder box is only able to add a new folder. Is it possible to add on another sub-folder and sub-sub-folder into the main folder.
I wish to create a name list folder with my yahoo mail account,
Main folder ----- Name with alphabet A-D
Sub-folder ------ Name "Albert"
Sub-Sub-folder ------ sub under "albert" sub-folder, put all related info regarding albert.
Actually I saw this features in Gmail account.
Why is it not possible to create sub-folders? For example, I am an artist and have an art folder. Within that folder I would like to have sub-folders for different organizations or media. Not that complicated!
Have a folder within a folder. Have sub-folders within a folder. Such as Folder named "Construction Plus" Sub-folders "John Doe" and "Jean Doe"
Have a folder within a folder. Have sub-folders within a folder. Such as Folder named "Construction Plus" Sub-folders "John Doe" and "Jean Doe"
I thinking having sub-folders will allow me to archive my emails better.
At the present I have too many folders for the same reason as I require the use of sub folders
My secondary email account has the option for sub-folders. so for instance if you travel to NYC a lot, you can have one folder say NYC and then when you put the cursor over it or click on it or drag on drop something there, the sub-folders appear as well. NYC as main folder with separate spots to put info for friends, restaurants, business contacts , etc. currently i have like 50 folders and it takes forever to scroll though to find stuff because i have 8 different "personal stuff" folders for different things as an example. it would b great to have 1 main and 7 subs :)
Actually it is not that easy to put mails into folders especially using the drag-and-drop functionality.
Furthermore it could be very nice to manage emails using also subfolders (in my case I have like 40 folders..).
Yahoo needs subfolders, I love yahoo email, had to switch to Gmail which I don't care for just for the ability to use subfolders, please allow this option!
I would like folders in folders
Please bring back tabs, it's so awkward to go through emails when you have to re-enter the folder and potentially go through all the pages again to find your place. Also, we need sub-folders! Every other professional email provider has sub-folders, so why can't we!? Are we supposed to just have a never-ending list of top folders? I want to be able to break down my Personal emails into several sub-sections, but don't want them all to appear in the list all the time! Also, I use my email account to receive work emails. Due to my line of work, they can be regarding any number of thing. I don't want to have to search the entire folder just to find the relevant email.
Allow sub folders in email folders. Been a long, long time coming I am thinking of dropping Yahoo mail.
Allow subFolders like Outlook
Bring back tabs--at least as an option--Tabs and Drag and drop where yahoo's best features
Bring back drag and drop--the new version is so slow and muddled it takes longer to drag and drop than to cook breakfast.
yahoo would be much more useful for me if you could created subfolders. please!?
You really need to make it so users can make a sub-folder with a master folder.
Please URGENTLY bring back tabs, formats and attachments at the top, improve bullets and numbering, and sorting the sent folder alphabetically!!!
Also it would be fabulous if FOLDERS WERE IMPROVED to have nested subfolders at least one leven down.
Than you so much in advace!!
BRING TABS BACK.. They work on the "old" version with the new code
BRING Sort by sender/subject back.. how could you miss that was an IMPORTANT feature.. !
SEND BAR ON TOP.. ! It slow you down looking for it on the bottom. Its not the normal place for it.
ADD Sub-Folders feature already.. its a needed function unlike some of the others you added.
Last but not least make the side bar stretchable
Your previous interface was awesome, why you did this interface to copy gmail??? If I wanted that, I would start using gmail.
Please go back to the previous one or give the users the option. The only thing your all interface, (and the new one too) is missing, is the ability to create subfolders or subdirectories
I NEED S U B F O L D E R S.... LIKE GMAIL HAS PLEASE
Why and how are you still so reluctant to make the sub-folder feature? I am still trying to hold on to "yahoo" although I have an account in gmail and hotmail which both have sub-folder features.
Do you think sub-folder is a useless feature? This is a very important feature for me as well as many yahoo user that I know. Many I know is not using yahoo because it is lacking this feature. Thought you might want to know.
I have a sub folders with rules that puts some emails in the correct folder. I can no longer see these folders when I first come to my email. So I have no idea if a new email is in there or not. Right now all is see is a an icon for folders but no clue if anything is new or not. I would love to just see my subfolders under the inbox icon. not a second step with no notification if anything is new or not in those folders. Maybe there's a setting to change this? It doesn't make sense to have sub folders with no way to know if anything is new in them.
With a significant amount of emails built up over time, folders are essential...
However, it would make life much easier to be able to create subfolders.
Rather than giving a folder a prefix name of "Job-" and creating the folders "Job-001", "Job-002", "Job-003", etc.
It would be so much easier to create a root folder of "Job" and sub-folders within the "Job" folder.
This would allow heavy email users to organize emails in a much more efficient way.
I make use of my Yahoo account for personal email, and MS outlook for business email and this is probably the biggest disadvantage/difference between the tools...
We (Yahoo users) keep asking (for months now) for the capability to have folders under folders (sub-folders)... I know you've been rolling out a lot of changes, but WHEN are we going to get this feature?
I want sub folders like Outlook.
For years I've wanted sub-folders. If you can do that, I'll become a paying customer!
Suggest to add subfolder..for better organisation..folder list is too long..& cant be categorized
To organize my mail box, I am a great user of folders. I must have thousands of mails that I kept in my box and they are all sent in folders to keep my daily box as clear as possible.
The problem is that I have around 120 folders and it's difficult to work with them many times. Many could be gathered.
For example, I have closed friends who send me emails very regularly and each one has a dedicated folder. I would like to gather all the folders in one top-folder called e.g. FRIENDS.
The only solution I found is to add the prefix "Friends-" each time I create a new folder. The consequence is that I have a dozen of folder beginning by "Friends-". It is absolutely not practical because it takes place in the space allowed for a folder name, sometimes I only see the prefix when the person has a long name so I have to point with the mouse on the title and it's also not comfortable for visualisation.
I really don't understand why this has not been proposed for many years because it would allow to see the folders much faster and it would be easier to organize the mail box.
Please create the possibility to create a tree of folders as it is the case in the computer system when you have to organize your files.
this feature is/was essential without it I quit Yahoo mail ASAP
You can actually create sub folders by configuring your account with IMAP on a desktop client like Thunderbird. These subfolders will then be sync'ed to the webmail
I'm moving to GMAIL !

The lack of simple sub-folder functionality is causing me to seriously consider changing to a new email provider. As I am paying for the upgraded Yahoo Email, this would be lost revenue for Yahoo. I would bet that Yahoo has already lost revenue from others for this same reason.
It is a common feature to most email programs so I do not understand why Yahoo does not implement in their tool as well.

You CAN.. It requires using Yahoo Plus and setting up your Yahoo account in Outlook. Then you can import into Yahoo your folder structure. a PIA.. but it works and the New Yahoo shows the subfolders and lets you use them. You can't edit them or delete them once they are there.. But they are there.
Ummm isn't that what FILTERS are for? I've been using these for years. You create a filter in your settings and it will ask you to create a folders that way. Then in the future you can just create folders without creating filters

How can I delete folders in my yahoo mail?
Ravish Garkoti commented
Having subfolders will help to manage mail in better way.
As we are having more and more mails day by day, its difficult to organize them only with one level of folders.
Now we have too many forlders. Sub folders will make navigation and storage easy.
What is point of sending me an email that your idea is merged with this, instead implementing? Why can't make is simpler and implement idea which users are asking. Better don't ask us.
still waiting on the subfolders
After not being able to delete my subfolders that made the transition over from Outlook, I would hope that the functionality be reinstated so we can choose one or the other. This is a basic mail function that is extremely necessary for project managers nesting folders within others. I'm changing my way of using e-mail, but can't we just accept efficiencies for what they are worth?
Add subfolders!!!!! It would make this a much more effective personal business email tool
come on, all together now

Is there a way to Undo it?
Please include a feature that allows sub folders. It would make it easier to organise email into groups. The folders options without a nesting is making the list of folders too long. It would be great to be able to put all related folders together.
If other emails systems like Gmail have it, why not Yahoo?
The ability to have sub folders and use them does exist in Yahoo mail. Using my tablet mail app I am able to create sub folders and move folders around. Those folders can then be accessed through the desktop site and can even open and close as a folder in a tree list should. All that needs to be added to the desktop version is the ability to create the folders.
The ability to create a Sub-Folder within a Folder will lessen the long list on the left and in the 'Move' selection. Most of all, it allows faster access rather than scrolling.
I stonly suggest this. The way current yahoo mail is very difficult to organize. Sub folder is much much better just like other email program has. Don't understand why yahoo don't understand the ease of this great option.
Subfolders was never an option on Yahoo.
Folders are enough. Say thank you have this, it was a struggle just to have tees.
