Missed deadline and confidence points
Our group has the deadline set to 5 minutes before each game with confidence points. When players don't get their picks in prior to the Thursday deadline, they still have the option to assign all points for the week so obviously the 1 point pick is going to go on the game that they missed. That doesn't seem fair as the people that actually get their picks in on time usually assign more than the 1 point pick. There have been several upsets on Thursday this year already and the people that got their picks in on time were down way more points that the people that didn't bother to get their picks in on time.
For example...last night's Raiders game...most people picked KC with 9 or more confidence points so they are down those points. There were a handful of people that didn't get their picks in, so now they are only down 1 point.
I think that if you miss the deadline, you should lose the ability to assign highest confidence points. With that theory, then the people that didn't get their picks in on time would each be down 15 points so far this week and not just 1 point.
Just my .02, but it would be great if Yahoo! would entertain the change to make it fair.

Engineering wise, it would be easiest to put an options in League Settings to let the Director make a choice. I think the issue is, there are no current options. Create a new option in Settings and allow the Director to decide that missing selections regardless of day/game results in a penalty and then allow them to select from a list of penalties. 1.) Average of all confidence points across the team is lost. 2.) Highest available weekly point is lost. 3.) The highest confidence point selected for that game is lost. 4.) The lowest confidence point selected for that game is lost.

Totally Agree. Alternatively, if you just give the commissioner the ability to edit picks post-deadline and noting those changed picks with an asterisk allowing the commissioner to explain why the pick was changed (rather than doing something shady), then they could go in and adjust their confidence points down. I'd be more than okay with going in and doing it manually if I had to.
I already have to hound people down about doing their picks on time and I don't feel bad when they miss them. They should have to pick the upset to win, not be conveniently bailed out by it. Going to have to change the deadline to first game of the week now when I'd really rather not since injuries/illnesses/QB-changes that occur after the Thursday deadline affect how I want to make my picks.

BIGGEST PROBLEM in my opinion. when upsets occur (like Chargers over Chiefs) the people who miss a pick get a MAJOR advantage in the week!!!!
YAHOO! Please fix this one ASAP as it is a major driver of unfair advantages

THIS. IS. DRIVING. ME. NUTS.
I have been burned on this now 5 of the 8 weeks already this season. PLEASE MAKE THOSE MISSED GAMES WORTH THE MAX POINTS INSTEAD OF 1.
If I were you, I would NEVER pick a Thursday game with more than one confidence point; that way, you'll never be behind those who "conveniently forget to pick" the always unpredictable Thursday game.
