The Yahoo mail app for Android is lacking so many basic functions that are found in other email apps that have been created/published by individuals/entities with far fewer financial resources than Yahoo. For instance: why isn't there a feature that allows the user to block messages from a specific user or domain??? This can be achieved but only by logging onto Yahoo's web interface using one's Yahoo email credentials and then going to the email settings and creating the block (or filter). So much for convenience. And for this inconvenience I should pay?!?! I THINK NOT !!!
Then there's the issue of being unable to move an item from the sent folder. One must either go back to their inbox and move the entire conversation (if using conversation mode) or delete the message from the sent folder, then go to the trash folder and move it from there to the desired destination folder. Can you say 'work around'?!? Sure I can. Know what else I can say? I can also say "unnecessay hassle and waste of my time". Wouldn't Mr. Rogers be proud?! Of me? Perhaps. But of this app? Hardly. Looks like 'Hooked On Phonics' didn't work very well for the Yahoo email app engineers. I'd be willing to bet that poor math skills accompany their under-developed app development skills as well. Hmmm.... Y'see boys and girls what happens when one doesnt spend enough time on Sesame Street? Me thinks Big Bird, Elmo and Cookie Monster could've done better...
Like I've said in my reviews of the Yahoo mail app at other online review venue(s): I give this app a 'barely-just-ok-and-not-quite-ready-for-prime-time-yet' rating. The light bulb in their Betty Crocker Easy Bake oven must be burned out (or just dim) as this effort is half-baked and in need of more oven time - and a lot of icing (ok, so I'm dating myself with references to things like the Betty Crocker Easy Bake Oven - responsible for more cases of burns on children's hands and the gastro-intestinal ailments of their parents from coast to coast - which is not so bad cosidering some of the so-called 'people' I've dated - and you know who you are).
Pay closer attention to the concerns of users and actually fix some of the glaring shortcomings of this app if you want a shot at the coveted 7-9 pm prime time slot (and for those left wondering what I'm referring to - I'm speaking metaphorically - go ask Mommy).
