I totally agree!! It is useless.

MSN removed comments a long time ago. Given the amountof spam on there and the level of toxicity, I'd consider it a site improvement (the articles themselves are a different issue)

get rid of comments it just there to spread hate and shows how ignorant the human population is
take this for example
https://www.yahoo.com/news/m/1fb80e03-2f41-39a9-aaf2-f129ba0d46c6/ss_indonesian-villagers-kill.html
the comment section if full of hate and ignorance "people's opinion" yet people who live in the modern society doesn't even know how the rest of the world works.
whats the point of the comment section anymore other to spread hate, violence, and ignorance,My say i suggest to just remove it

Leave the comments available, block trolls. If you remove comments you have allowed others, quite possibly unfriendly foreign countries, to suppress the American right of free speech.

Go look at literally any article, doesn't matter the topic. Check the comments, and score 1 point for every TRUMP TRUMP MAGA MAGA post, or blatantly racist rhetoric, or flat-out gleeful hatred being spewed by trolls and bots. You'll score at least 100 points on an article about baking cookies, 1000 if there's any mention of "hillary", and easily 5000 points on legitimate topics like DACA, terrorism, or the Mueller investigation.

It is very disheartening to listen see the constant negative, cruel and inhumane comments that are linked to the articles. While some of them may be from actual people, I feel like a majority are trolls dead set on contaminating our way of life in the US and how we obtain our news. I typically never read them, but for some reason decided to read them. Talk about depressing. We have a subset of people that are crass, inappropriate and have nothing better to do than throw insults. For the better of the world.... please get rid of the comment section, or hide it else

Automatically popping up user comments is distracting, annoying, and, to put it bluntly, it is upsetting to be forced to see how cold, ignorant and hateful so many people are. Yahoo news uses a reasonable selection of new sources, but the experience of reading it is heavily impacted by the comments cesspool. Please don't make us swim in that cesspool unless we want to.

Since Yahoo wants to moderate their comments but does so in a completely incoherent and incompetent manner, I think this is a good idea.

A way to turn off comments on stories. I don't need to see pointless arguing and childish name calling.

This site seems to be a favorite of the "alt righters". One thing if a rogue racist comes in and gets shut down, but when 75% of the comments for some articles are blatantly racist, it's a problem. Might be too much of an issue for a simple "report comment" option. Not a good look Yahoo, figure it out

Please get rid of the comments under the articles on the homepage. They are 90%+ troll comments and just make me want to go elsewhere. What do you possibly think you are gaining by putting them there? Doesn’t anyone at Yahoo read them??

The site should have no comments from readers. Most of them are trolls anyway

I admit that I spend time in the cesspool that is Yahoo comments. But it truly does bring out the very worst in people. During the election it was obviously populated by troll farms (you could tell by looking at the other comments users made - the topics for specific individual users went from idiotic and barely literate to well crafted propaganda - often with grammar that was clearly different within posts and indicative of Slavic and sometimes Asian languages, and also these id's never answered questions). I'd strongly support dropping the comment section because it is not used to enlighten, or to teach, or to learn, but only to spread division.

The comment section should be removed.

Can there please be an option to turn off the social media reactions that are below every story now. Often the comments are not well thought out, racist or poorly written. I go to yahoo for news not to see what other people are saying. The comments aren't even about the story most of the time, it's just someone saying how stupid or biased yahoo is. This isn't something people want to see when they click on a headline. I can't be the only long time yahoo user that feels this way. Thank you!

I totally agree. Yahoo! does nothing about the racists, cyberbullying. They are giving these people a platform.

I agree. The things posted there are so racist and vile. Every story devolves into criticism of non - white citizens. Please eliminate the section so that others do not get the satisfaction of knowing that someone read their racists remarks. Yahoo, you are a part of the problem!

The comments section is the absolute lowest of the low. Do away with it and take us one step away from the obscenely vile rhetoric being spewed. Stop giving this element a voice.
