AIR CONDITIONING: We before we were retired built homes and until 1990's we did
not put airconditioning in the homes we built. Our cars did not have A/C.
Even after we installed A/C both of us did not use the A/C in our home
or car. We knew that if you ran your A/C in your car your gas mileage
was not as good. Things like this became more important and more
things were written about the enviroment since the early 70's due to
the Oil Embargo. We made the decision that having fake cool air was
not healthy and having to get in and out of our car cool/hot-hot/cool
was silly. Not that we are older we may be a little more lax but not
entirely. With our new push for climate change this would be an important avenue to start changing. Speed limits make such a change
in the amount of emissions in the air should be looked at. There are so
many simple things we can change to make a difference in our entire
enviroment.Another thing we did in the 70's was we stopped drying
our clothes in the dryer-it is a little less convenient but not much. Do
we think about filling up the dishwasher & washing machine. It would
be a valuable tool if the government put out litature on the small and
simple ways we can change. I know that these comments might sound
a bit uppity but this article just gave me the opportunity to think back
into the changes that we made in the 70's and we probably did save
a lot more energy because we made these simple savings.
