"Report abuse" button not workin on spam and other abusive comments in Yahoo Finance Conversations
Dear Yahoo Staff, there have been an increasing amount of spam and other abusive comments throughout the Yahoo Finance conversation boards. I have repeatedly tried to use the "report abuse" dropdown option on the upper right-hand corner of the posts to no avail. These spammed and/or abusive posts are still around months later. Below are a few of the examples:

Please look at the post history of the user Bullrage1. It is full of multiple years of youtube link spamming among other abusive posts. Many of his comments look like they're outright written by a bot.

"I started following "Lion - Stock - Aletrs" (Gooogle it - off course without any space or dash in between the words) and their notifications are better than anyone else."

See the post history of 'Taylor'. His comment history is chalk full of spammed SeekingAlpha links with some bot like comments in between.

If you fix the "report abuse" function, it would go a long way in getting all this spam and other abusive content can be addressed. Some of these spammers / abusive posters have already dropped hundreds if not thousands of these abusive comments over the course of multiple years already. I would certainly volunteer some time to help Yahoo clean up the boards by flagging the abusive comments and I'd imagine some of the other community members would be willing to help out as well. Thank you Yahoo Staff for your time and effort in providing these valuable discussion boards.

Stop letting the boards be used by people that behave and write like juvenile delinquents.
I will check back in a month and see if you have made any progress. Right now, your site is pretty worthless.

There is this Phony Scam Artist on the Yahoo Investment Board He posts over at the Rite Aid Financial Board his name is ACE. Everyone of his posts has 40 to 70 immediate thumbs up. Yahoo always places his posts on Top because he has 70 thumbs up instantly. He is selling penny stocks while giving out poor investment advice to innocent people with his comments. So you must figure he has made himself a data bank of 70 other identities on the Yahoo Investment Board. When I complain Yahoo never does anything. Some of his Penny Stocks he tells people to buy crash. But he can delete his posts and cover over his scheme. How do you get rid of these types of people?

Reporting them doesn't seem to do anything and there are countless more of these types of posts across many boards.

Look at the newest posts within the GE board. I think the majority of replies there are personal attacks, random insults or some other form of abuse. I can't say I'm surprised to hear this has been going on for years already. The report abuse option definitely seems like a placebo.

The lack of punishment for the abusive posts have sadly made personal attack posts along with various other off topic spam prolific in many boards.

Look at the SPOT and JAG boards for the lion stock spammers. There are on many different boards. Come on Yahoo, please address the spam.

Just today under "newest reactions":

All Aboard!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rPiceGku-oThis spammer is in his third year spamming these irrelevant youtube links as seen in his comment history. I've reported spammers like this many times to no avail. The fact that spammers and other abusive posters can freely break Yahoo policies without any punishment encourages others to do so as well. There will be more and more policy breaking posts until Yahoo does something about them.
-
Stan commented
Yep, the spammers / abusive posters don't often get enough positive votes to get into the top reactions section but they proliferate in the newest reactions section. Unfortunately, the newest reactions section is the most relevant section of them all. It is disappointing to see the abusive posters continue for 3+ years and Yahoo still won't do anything about them. I'm predicting these abusive (policy breaking) posters will continue onto 5 or even 10+ years as Yahoo won't enforce their own policies even against the most blatant spammers.

Oops, sorry everybody. Forgot to mention that you have to hit the "sort by new" option to see these spammers / abusive posters in action. I wish I could edit the main post here.

Overall, I agree. It would be nice to get that "report abuse" working again. I don't recall it doing anything for the past several months. It used to work but not anymore.

Don't even get me started on all the irrelevant political rubbish on the BA boards.

That is definitely a lot of bot comments. There are generally quite a bit of those too under various Yahoo Finance articles.
