A full block tool
Hopefully Yahoo developers and staff are reading these suggestions. A tool to full block someone from viewing your posts and following you around is sorely needed in the Yahoo Conversations. This tool will allow users to essentially self-moderate which means less work for Yahoo's Abuse Team and most significantly, a guaranteed decrease in the overall toxicity within the Yahoo forums.
Just muting doesn't do enough because abusive individuals will still follow you around to smear you and make you look awful. There is just so much of this going on right now and it is making the Yahoo forums very unpleasant.

A way to block would greatly help maintain civility.

No surprise why these Yahoo forums are such a cesspool instead of actually hosting productive discussions. Other sites like Twitter does a much better job with both a mute and a block option.

Something comes to mind, which my grandmother used to say.....
"If you don't have something nice to say, then it is best you don't say it AT ALL"
Perhaps we should all try and remember that bit of wisdom, the next time we begin to reply, or comment, on the forums....
That being said, rather than bothering to react to others who fail to follow this advice, I mute them. -

I just read a lot of these comments, and agree, for the most part, that, something needs to be done.
There seems to be a large number of people, on both sides, who like to troll, and make random attacks on people who disagree with them....I also believe, that, incessant name-calling, most frequently from far-leftist haters, and vice-versa, is what provokes this ***-for-tat attitude, which has gone TOO FAR! I do read questionable post's histories, and see that this becomes a habit.
Yahooo must know about this situation. Perhaps it is a bad idea to all review, however, after seeing those histories, WHY does Yahoo allow these chronic sickies to continue? If you read a lot of their posts, you will see that a lot of it is mindless garbage which should not be inflicted upon intelligent readers, who may have interesting and informative viewpoints to share. -

Come on Yahoo, please let your users block the abusers. You'll be doing everyone a huge favor.

Can anyone explain why there is no way to unmute someone?

I'm here because of the idiocy on the finance message boards. There's just no way to mute them all because they change IDs and show up again. The CSCO message board is a cesspool. I'd love to permanently block them so I don't have to comb through all of the nasty posts each time I go there.

No good will come from allowing obsessed haters to comb through your posts. They'll keep doing it over and over. This turns both the forums and the article comments section into a cesspool.

A block button would improve the productivity of Yahoo Conversations.

Just being able to block in the article comments section would be incredibly useful nevermind the message boards. The mute option really does not go far enough. Why ever allow people with ill will to comb through a user's post history and continuously attack them? This "full block" will do wonders for both the article comments section and the message boards.

Any news on this?

Yahoo / Verizon staff would be pretty awesome to implement this. I remember even the older iteration of the Yahoo message boards did not have a proper blocking mechanism. This would be a definite improvement. I can even see myself using Yahoo Finance more if they implement this option.

This doesn't even have to carry any negative connotations. A full block option gives users more control over their own posted content. This feature is a net positive addition to Yahoo Finance Conversations in my opinion.

I get the distinct impression that Yahoo doesn't know how bad the personal attacks, stalking, hate speech, harassment and many other forms of sustained abusive behavior are on their finance boards.

Would love to hear back from a Yahoo representative on the status of this. There were many times where it would have been very convenient to have a block tool in the forums. It would save everyone a bit of time and headache if this feature existed. The mute is definitely not enough. Come on Yahoo, help us, help you.

This would give users more control over the content they post to these message boards. I am all for it. Please give us this block feature Yahoo.

An option to block haters, trolls, stalkers and etc from viewing and responding to your posts would be IMMENSELY appreciated. I can also see the logic behind such a block being an effective deterrent to cut down on incivility. Of course there will inevitably be some who wouldn't care to be blocked by everyone but there will be many others who do not want to be blocked to the point where they end up talking to themselves.
@Mike Barry That is a real shame. Yahoo's discussion forums have been a very helpful resource but it is being ruined by rampant abuse and other nonsense. The forums seem to be increasingly lacking in the development department.

I asked for fix for the mute button and they told me the topic was closed. Baloney. It still doesn't work right. I'm not holding my breath.

Any word from Yahoo staff on the possibility of this tool? This tool would be very helpful to clean up the Yahoo Finance message boards.

I've met my fair share of disturbed individuals in Yahoo Finance Conversations and would appreciate an option to fully block them from viewing my profile, posts, threads and etc. As useful as the muting option is, it doesn't stop the more disturbed types from following you around.
