mark as read
Before the latest update, we could check any number of unread mails and hit "k" as a hot key to mark them as "read". Now we have to go through the drop-down to do it. Bring back the hot key!

Please give the option of marking a message as read when it has been replied to!

To make matters worse, you didn't just change the shortcut key for "Mark message Read," you REVERSED the shortcut keys for "Mark message Read" and "Mark message Unread."
Old Mail: Mark Read = K, Mark Unread = Shift+K
New Mail: Mark Read = Shift+K, Mark Unread = KThis is the very worst type of (unanticipated) UI change, totally destroying the user's muscle memory for this operation.

If it's not broken don't fix it. The keyboard shortcut was not broken and didn't have to be fixed. Marking a email message as read shouldn't require no more then one keyboard key. It was much easier when it was just the letter "K". I understand if you guys are trying to improve the way we get and are able to read mail but let's use some common sense here. Again if it's not broken it's a waste of time and resources to fix it.

100 percent in agreement. I don't need Alt-D to create a draft. I need it to do the things that every other application or site on the web does: go to the address bar. Highjacking long-established hotkeys makes as much sense as a car that swaps the Drive and Reverse gears on the driver. No one expects it, and no one wants it.

I need a setting to TURN OFF Yahoo mail hotkeys. I don't use them, but sometimes I mistakenly think my text editor on a different monitor has focus when my mail browser actually does, so I start typing and then random **** happens on the mail page.
Even more annoying than that, I've been using ALT+D since Windows 95 came out to instantly set focus to the address bar in file browsers and web browsers. I'm not going to stop. Yet when I try to do it while Yahoo mail has focus, Yahoo has the audacity to OVERRIDE a long established command and do I don't know what instead of setting focus to the address bar.

Simple, go back to the user friendly word processor interface that incorporates the same features as MS Word. Everyone is already familiar with this format so if you wish to have happy users, listen up Yahoo.

Drop the bias, drop the hate-speech, make yourself more consumer friendly, and maybe more people will upgrade.

Return the old hot keys combination/way.
I want to use "K" and not "Shft+K" to mark read.+

This was probably the most used feature of Yahoo Mail for me...being able to hit "k" to either mark my mail as read OR unread. Yahoo may think that adding just Oooone extra key to that wouldn't mean anything, but when you do this ALL THE TIME, it adds up...a lot. It literally doubles the amount of time it takes. Very inefficient. Going back to Classic Mail...AGAIN, for the 5th freaking time! Stop auto-changing to the new mail!

In my opinion, this is definitely the worst change with the new mail - why must I press "shift-k" instead of just "k"? Bring back the "k"!

In general, it seems this upgrade involves using many more keystrokes and clicks to do what the old version did smoothly. Not an improvement, Yahoo.

So, to "fix" things, Yahoo has now apparently added a pop-up instruction to tell you that 'k' is now Shift-k (and what was shift-k is now 'k'...and 'l' is now shift-l and vice-versa). It would seem that someone had too much time on his/her hands and thought it would be fun to mess around with the hot keys by reversing them.

Yahoo REALLY needs to go back to toggling read/unread to just the "K" hot key! I pay for premium service and have actually adopted using Yahoo hotkeys as my default setting even for my work email.
Please do not ignore this request. It is simple, just switch it back. This kills my productivity. I am now truly debating leaving Yahoo Mail entirely given so much feedback is not even responded to.

not as good as before, but better than nothing; thank you
