emails gone
I admit I have not logged into this email account for a while, maybe about six months or so, but I come back and see that all my emails are gone? That is kinda one of the most basic things an email service is supposed to do isn't it? Hold onto emails? And if you guys were going to dump all my emails it seems like I should of gotten some notice or some warning... or some chance to save those emails.
I hope yahoo will be able to resolve this matter.
If an account is unused or dormant for 12 months, it is deactivated and its emails are deleted, more info here: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN2018.html
If this does not apply to you, You can try doing a search or doing an email restore if the email was deleted in the past 7 days.
help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN2552.html
In case you are using a mail client such as Outlook or the Native mobile app, emails may be deleted by that third party client. We do recommend accessing your mail via http://yahoo.com or the Yahoo Mail app to avoid this issue.

My "old" mailbox was deleted just because I had not checked it in over a year and I was not notified in any way (backup email or text-both my recovery access points) shape or form regarding or warning of this impending deletion!!!! I used this email as a personal "bank", depositing very important emails that I might need to refer to in future, not checking it, just knowing that emails contained within should have been safe, now they are GONE forever!!! Yahoo needs to give better notification of this for other users by utilizing their backup recovery methods on file!!!! I am very disappointed in Yahoo! How can a user know about updates or change of terms to service if they don't check the mailbox? This should be communicated using recovery emails or sending messages via recovery phone numbers.

I signed into an old account I had looking for some particular emails that I needed and found the whole thing empty. No emails in the inbox, none sent, none in drafts. Were they automatically deleted because I hadn’t used it for so long? It was more like a “memory” email. 🥺🥺🥺

Totally agree! I got very emotional when I realized I have probably lost emails from deceased friends/relatives! PLEASE SET UP A 1-MONTH TEXT ALERT to those who are about to lose all their emails. You already have our cell phones numbers. This is not good customer service.

ALL of my mail and contacts were deleted without my knowing and all I can see with people in similar situations is Yahoo support basically saying "your mail was deleted, no way around it"
How awful!!! Mail was the go-to communication before social media. I lost YEARS of my memories because of this. I was not using yahoo for anything other that reminiscing about my past and seeing conversations I had with friends in high school... you know... nostalgia trips! If yahoo realized the power of this, they'd still have a user.
Not only am I not interested in anything yahoo related again, I'm actively telling everyone I know who has a yahoo email address to jump ship. No one should have to go through this.

I don't log in to Yahoo mail regularly anymore, but I still wanted to maintain my account. Why would you suspend my account and permanently delete my emails without sending me a reminder to log back in? It was only 1 year that I haven't logged in. And it's very lame that only emails deleted in the last 7 days can be restored. That is a ridiculously short period of time.

I haven't checked this email in over a year, but I got on today to read through old emails from a friend who had passed away because I missed them only to find that you had deleted everything on my account because it was inactive. I had memories dating back to elementary school on there; pictures, emails with friends and family, and it's all gone. That is not okay.

How can I retrieve my lost contacts. This morning I tried to access them only, to my shock, to find them all missing.

Yahoo service is absolutely terrible. The problem with all the servers we DO NOT have much competition among them; therefore we are utterly controlled by them. Where is the freedom of choice to the consumers? There are none!

All my folders are erased, including my receipt. I paid my security for 2 years, but now they say I have to pay again and Yahoo erased my receipts?

Where is my old emails?
Some has posted a link here to to information that Y can disable or delete an account if not accessed within a period but this is missing the point.
Me any many others can still access the account but emails from many years are missing. Y just congratulated me on 19 years with them and then they delete 17 of the 19 years of our history including all conversations between me and my wife to be without notice. I mean you get an alert to log in once in a while but I do not recall anything like "Urgent - please download all emails, we will delete 17 years of them them in X days" -

Check if yahoo mail can up with some policy(paid or unpaid) as a part restoration and back up from archived Email for the inactive Mail box(beyond 12 months).I was inactive for 1.5 years due to medical reasons and when came back ,I saw all my precious mails are lost without a single notifications to me in any mode.

Get me my emails back!! All of them in last 11 years.
I'm not using this email that often.. but looks like Yahoo does as much as they can to force people to forget about it forever.
Deleting all correspondence?? That's too much of a stupid turn. -

Retrieve old emails. I logged in after a couple years of inactivity to see why i had stopped used Yahoo. They had "deleted" all my old emails. I want them back. Or I will permanently go to Google.
