Enhance spam detection
Lately a lot spams have bypassed detection and they all have a very unique garbage like appearance in their subject and sender. Examples for subjects "- ²C'o n G r-@ at°", "H°ealTh", "C°on gr aT <", ".C'o n-g r a t..!". Examples for sender "S A - M s .°", "P'ro Sta Te", "A'ir PodS", "S' AM S.°". It'd seem easy enough if only Yahoo can use NLP to get a basic assessment on how nonsensical these are.

Maybe a massive mail-in campaign to yahoo customer service might get someone's attention.
I tend to doubt it, bit it never hurts to try.
Just open up the obvious spam email, and FORWARD it to:Use whatever verbiage/message you want, but feel to copy/paste the following message:
Why does yahoo mail allow this OBVIOUS SPAM to end up in my INBOX instead of going DIRECTLY into my SPAM folder? If yahoo can't filter OBVIOUS SPAM, then why should I continue using yahoo mail? Do you recommend that I switch to GMAIL? If not, then why should I continue using an email that CAN'T filter out OBVIOUS SPAM???

This is OBVIOUSLY a BLATANT ATTEMPT by yahoo to discourage users from continuing to use the basic yahoo email service and make the users feel like they MUST UPGARDE to the PAID email service because of yahoo greed!!! yahoo is more interested in revenue than on customer service/satisfaction. MASSIVE INCOME from advertising is not enough, so the greedy company expects to enhance revenue by getting more money from their users.
I have written the following email to yahoo customer service (and I use that term lightly!) citing dozens of OBVIOUS SPAM EMAILS:
Why does yahoo mail allow this OBVIOUS SPAM to end up in my INBOX instead of going DIRECTLY into my SPAM folder? If yahoo can't filter OBVIOUS SPAM, then why should I continue using yahoo mail? Do you recommend that I switch to GMAIL? If not, then why should I continue using an email that CAN'T filter out OBVIOUS SPAM???Almost every response comes back with all the different ways that the USER can TRY to filter spams, and, of course, lists the option of UPGRADING to the PAID EMAIL program.
These SPAMS are so obvious that FIFTH GRADERS could program the yahoo computers to filter them out. But again, yahoo INTENTIONALLY chooses to focus on ADVERTISEMENT REVENUE and PREMIUM email revenue. Anyone notice that on your list of emails in your INBOX, yahoo has inserted what looks like an email, but in reality, they have SNEAKILY inserted an AD in hopes that the user will inadvertently click on that AD so yahoo could collect MORE AD REVENUE!
I've also written to them asking why I should continue using yahoo with this type of horrible filtering system. NO REPLY, OF COURSE!!!
I don't expect things to change because it's ALL ABOUT CORPORATE GREED!!!

Yahoo spam is killing everyone who uses Yahoo mail. Their rules are **** and not very versatile to stop spam. Yahoo needs to stop it at their server level.

Yahoo mail has gone to ****. I do not think anyone even reads these messages. Perhaps an "allowed sender" list, that would reject emails not in it. Yes, more work but thousands of spam messages are work too!

I have been getting so much more spam in the last 3-4 months. I mark them all as spam but it doesn't seem to help.I will NOT pay for your premium service when I can go elsewhere to receive a much better email service for free. I have been switching over my important accounts to my new email and hopefully will be done in the next few weeks. Bye Yahoo mail!

I am soooo glad to have found this thread! I have been driving myself nuts with the spam, continuously marking these emails as spam and blocking the sender (when possible) to NO AVAIL. Specifically the spoof Norton/McAfee etc. This is ridiculous. I have changed all of my accounts/logins over to an alternate email address after 15 years of using Yahoo.

I signed up for Yahoo Premium for the trial period. A few observations:
* Same amount of spam as before
* Not additional options to block spam or automatically delete it, without tediously setting up an infinite number of filters
* The feature set of Yahoo Premium has no mention of spam protection, enhanced or otherwise. -

In some strange way, I was happy to find this thread so at least I know it's not just me! It occurred to me today, after I got the second e-mail solicitation to "try" Yahoo Plus (with the subject line of "minimize the junk in your inbox") that just maybe Yahoo has intentionally shut the spam filters off, so that more people will upgrade to their Premium (not free) service. I'm also having some other issues with my e-mail basically going offline after 5-10 minutes so I'm constantly having to log in.

Im getting over 40 emails a day for the last few weeks all blatantly spam. Yahoo just flat out is a terrible service anymore. You cant even reach somebody unless you PAY them for support. Their services are **** now a days so I bet the paid tech support is the same.

Just this last week it seems Yahoo mail has failed to do spam detection. I have had to manually go through the email list and mark the spam...184 of them in 3 days. Checked all the boxes and marked as SPAM. Still doing it today. Really need you to step up your SPAM detection.

There are quite a few active subscriptions which I have never signed up and they are all spam lists! Yahoo is automatically and repeatedly signed me up for different spam list. Pls stop doing this!

I've been sold to the Spam Mothership and it's not the first time. I'm done with Yahoo mail. Best of luck to all!

I am now having same problem with exactly the type of examples shown in the item. Its clear that my yahoo email has been sold to the highest bidder! It is so bad that I am considering either changing my email address at Yahoo or simply start using Google or other services. Is there any help from Yahoo before you lose good customers?

so, Yahoo what are you doing about this????

Agree with these comments. The amount of spam in the last month or so is TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL!!
I've stuck with Yahoo because they had a good record of stopping SPAM - Not any more!
Yahoo's editorial ***** sucks and now the email spam blockers suck!
Anybody have a good suggestion for a reliable email server.
Yahoo - You should be ashamed!! -

I am getting 4 to 10 of these an HOUR. Always some warning of a McAfee or Norton virus detected, subscription expired, etc. Always written like a ransom note. All from spoofed Email addresses. I mark them as SPAM, but they still get through. Shame since these remain on the Yahoo Mail servers - if there is a virus payload inside, your servers would be the ones getting dinged. This flooding started about 6 weeks ago.

The increase in spam is terrible and marking messages for spam does not prevent future instances from making it to my inbox. Yahoo needs tighter controls
