Stop forcing users to enter mobile numbers
Forcing a user to enter their mobile number for "account recovery" is not a good practice in my opinion. I don't want my phone linked to this account, or any of my accounts in general... won't be using Yahoo mail anymore.
Also, your continuous scroll Homepage is clunky - it feels heavy and dated. Good luck.
Don’t get locked out of your Yahoo account. Keep a valid mobile phone number or email address on your account in case you ever lose your password. You can add or replace up to 10 email addresses. This limit includes current emails and any that have been recently removed: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN2058.html

Your unreasonable requirement for me to supply you with a wireless number that I don't have is now preventing me from staying signed in. Instead of improving the service, you have made it worse.

I have a user ID and password and I stay signed in. However, I keep getting asked for a 10-digit wireless number, which I don't have. When I try to go around the question I can't answer, I keep getting a notification that I successfully logged out. Not everyone has a wireless phone!
I see that people have been complaining about this since 2019. How about resolving it with the obvious solution instead of keeping it an open problem? Is it that hard for you to understand than not everyone has a mobile phone? Even before my previous G3 phone was made obsolete, I never checked for text messages. You have created a problem, fix it!

You keep on pestering me to input a recovery phone number. I deliberately deleted it after trying to access my email from a library when I was away, having forgotten to take my mobile phone with me. Consequently you prevented me from accessing my email because you insisted on me using the recovery phone to access it

Mobile Phone numbers are very insecure in 2021 - SIM swapping and spoofing are easy ways for a third party to access your account without your permission.
There are other ways to make sure users always have access to their accounts. Require multiple e-mails, recommend a password manager+authenticator, recommend physical keys, etc. (all of these are already supported by Yahoo & will not require too much technical work)

After receiving an email to say that you are going to permanently delete my account, if I don't get into it, I decided to TRY to get in. I say TRY, because I stopped using my Y7 email account, because you constantly pestered me for my phone number. I do NOT put my phone number on anything online & as I live in Australia, 99.99% of the time, my number is NOT accepted. So I gave up. I don't see why you need my phone number & therefore shouldn't be insisting that I put it on my records. I have seen many complaints from other people also & especially about wanting them to say they are not a robot. Just let people get into their email account, especially when they are the only one who uses their computer, or phone, or is their OWN email account. Sometimes you people just go too **** far with your so-called 'security'.

Tonight (PST around 10:20pm) on Chrome, my aunt tried to access her old Yahoo email but was blocked after her entering valid username/password. Yahoo mail popped up a screen forcing her to provide her mobile phone number for account recovery while NOT giving her an option to use email. THIS IS REDICULOUS as my aunt does NOT have a mobile phone! WHOEVER DESIGNED THAT POPUP SCREEN IS A THOUGHTLESS MORON WHO CARES FOR NOONE BUT HIMSELF! My aunt Is now so upset losing her old mail contacts that she was searching for.

Can you Please stop with the update with a mobile phone number? Many of us either DO NOT HAVE a mobile phone or DO NOT want to use it to connect to your site. I have already added an email as backup contact but now I'm getting the ******** of "must add a mobile number" notice. I DO NOT HAVE A MOBILE PHONE. Please put in a "check here if you do not have a mobile phone" box as an opt-out option. a second email is FINE for contacting anyone in a situation. Thank you.

Yahoo starts forcing new users or existing users (in future) to add a phone number.
Presumably the phone number will be used to recover account in case user forgets password or if user signs on from a foreign device.
This can cause problem in several cases:
1) User travels abroad. Quite often user's phone or phone number will change when traveling abroad. Yahoo detects user's signing on from a device with foreign IP address and forces user to enter security code sent via text message. This will not work.
2) User's phone gets damaged and user starts using a different phone with different number. The security code recovery via text message will not work.
3) User changes phone service to a different company and drops service on the old phone. Again, the security code recovery via text message will not work. -

With New Mail, you required a mobile number without allowing me to skip it, then put the workaround back allowing me to skip t, and now have removed the workaround again. I don't have a mobile number. You are trying to lock me out of my mail! Nothing about New Mail is an improvement, but at least let me into it without requiring a mobile number I don't have.

When I log into Yahoo I see a message (pop up) that I need to update a notification phone #, and says it is a requirement. I have one phone number and it is a land line number. I don't think entering it will help Yahoo, or myself. Unless Yahoo is going to give me a call to give me some code, because text wont work.. Please clarify.

I've always considered yahoo to be the best suitable, at least for me. But now It feels like a mess. I never wanted to share my contact with it, but it's bugging me now, whereas before for security purposes I used different emails of mine which is why I got lots of emails for different uses. What's more, now it's telling me that I must use the phone number for security reasons. I don't feel secure anymore now that you're asking me to share contact for secuirty.

If I am forced by you, Yahoo, to add a mobile number to my account for "security", I will stop using your service all together. I've had this email account for over 20 years with no mobile number, and you have the WORST spam filters in the history of email providers. If you believe we should trust you with our mobile numbers on file, you're crazy.

No Mobile Phone. When I sign into Yahoo Mail it asks for mobile phone. I already have an alternate contact email on file, but I do not have a mobile phone. I only have a landline.

I don't have a cellphone, so I cannot give you a recovery phone number. I don't have one. Classic Mail had an option to "secure account later" to get into mail despite Yahoo's attempt to get a phone number (for no actually good reason). New Mail added that workaround after I complained before, but has since deleted it. New Mail is trying to lock me out of my email. Yahoo staff's recent "response" was unresponsive to my complaint.

Stop this **** of trying to force me to give you personal information, e.g., a hard phone number. It's not happening. I've already largely moved away from using yahoo for my mail needs. All you will accomplish is to eliminate you from my mail function completely. I now check my "yahoo" mail mostly when some spammer demands I feed back an authentication code. I DO have a personal account, but it's in the process of being abandoned, too.

I am tired of you wanting my phone number for added securtiy. YOU DO NOT NEED IT AND YOU CAN'T HAVE IT! All you want is to sell it to phone pests.

Why do i have to verify my email with a phone or another email. if i dont have my phone, im *******. because genius, the other verification method is to use another email. guess what the other email wants, the same thing. useless security feature. imagine if every time i wanted to use my phone i had to authenticate with yahoo. then id really be ******and ****** too.
