Darn it! why is it so hard to add a contact? Your responses don't tell how to add NEW contacts.
Simply put an "add contact" button and make it possible to right click on an email address to add it to contacts.

I added a new contact, but was not able to get it to come up when replying to a message
To me this is a bug. I added a new contact, then went back to Inbox to reply to a message, and the new contact would not appear when I started typing the name. I had to type the email address, as if it was not a known contact. This is not the first time I have encountered this behavior.
