Requiring a mobile telephone for all Yahoo users.
Yahoo! seems to have implemented their modern version of "Don't trust anyone over thirty". The over-the-hill crowd is being discriminated against with this change, as are the underprivileged who cannot afford mobile phone subscriptions. The hardware might be "free" with a multi-year, draconian, binding agreement, but said multi-year contractual service is NOT FREE.
Many people whose eyesight needs correction do not like, and do not use mobile phones for anything other than talking to people. Many people use Jitterbug or eschew cellphones entirely.
Yahoo! has decided that it wants to exclude all the aforementioned people from access to Yahoo! Groups. In a telephone call today, speaking with a Yahoo! employee, I was told that millions - please note - MILLIONS - of Yahoo! identities have been washed away and the owners of those identities must now go out and buy a mobile telephone in order to regain access to their former social life.
I doubt that I'm the only one who finds this a perplexing response from a company which poses as people-oriented.
Yahoo has been reviewing ways to improve the security of our member accounts, eliminate abuse and reduce the time needed to recover a password. Mobile is a secure way to solve all 3 of these issues.
We will never use mobile numbers for anything other than verification purposes and share this personal data with other companies.
We’re currently testing our registration page and will provide updates.

The issue is there is a need for greater security. Using your cell phone leaves you "the client" responsible if your account is hacked. They send service to virtual systems and overseas to save money while not doing anything to increase security. I'm one of the people they dropped the ball on. A hacked has spoofed my phone and all authentication goes to their phone. So speaking to virtual assistants and people I cant understand who keep saying this is not possible is getting me irritated. Google, bing, yahoo all of you need to wake up. Stop lining shareholders pockets and do what's right. I've been in a 8 month cycle of talking with idiots trying to get my accounts back and all it's done is give the hacker more time to access more accounts

@Product Support(Admin, Yahoo) how about providing some live product support instead of the **** forums that no Yahoo Support person ever visits to offer assistance. There's a reason why Google and Bing are kicking your ***.
This is terrible! Many people cannot afford a cell phone and the charges. Also I followed your instructions to go back to my Classic E-mail. I have windows 10 on a new all in one Dell computer. There is NOT a button at the bottom of the SETTINGS wheel that says "RETURN TO CLASSIC".
NOT good and slow, my ad blocker does not work and I DESPISE ads.

I agree, you make it newer, and we can't keep up with the NEW system.
Today I had to log into my wife's account to verify my own account - what balls up! on my laptop, I can only log into one yahoo account at a time so had to find paper and pen etc.
As if having to verify my account every time on my mobile phone was not frustrating enough. I am definitely going to delete myself from Yahoo and set up on another free e-mail account that is not so complicated and frustrating.

Sorry, I do not believe you.
You claim to provide "best in class" email when this is not true.
You come up with "improvements" that just make things worse.
You claim to fix problems when they remain, such as this one, where you allege that if I click "remind me later" that you won't hassle me for my phone number again. I feel sorry for women you guys hit on because you can't ever take no for an answer.
You need to do 2 things:
1) You need to put a "do not show again" button on this message. I do NOT want you to have my number. No, not "maybe later."......Maybe never, that's when.
2) force all Yahoo executives to ONLY use YahooMail to communicate. No telephone, no Twitter, -
- - - nothing but YahooMail.

Why discriminate against people who do not have a mobile phone? I do not and will not buy a mobile phone that I have no use for. I think you are trying to chase people away from using yahoo.

The day Yahoo (Verizon) trumps this change onto people will be the LAST day I use Yahoo (Verizon) anything! I don't have reliable wifi and NO I'm not buying one or using any ******* '**** people unsecure notsmartphone!' Greedy ******* Verizon has already metered my 'High Speed' connection down to a ******* crawl now without the whole neighborhood piggybacking on my connection!
I HATE NAZI DICTATORSHIPS!! THE ONLY GOOD NAZI'S A DEAD NAZI!!!!
Now WHERE is the 'Quick and EASY' way BACK to my old mail that actually HAS MY ******* EMAIL IN IT!!!! This ****'s nothing but a hideously BAD BETA that is WAAAAAYYY too flawed for public release!
I am NOT your ******* guinea pig! If you're testing a beta, say your testing a ******* beta! Don't rope people into your nazi shitpile and give them no way, but GMAIL out!!!!!!
I hate this program. Please give me the old one back. It worked great. This one is junk.

I HATE using a verification account key code. Technology is suppose to make life quicker and easier. Yahoo is going backwards to a step that should be voluntary.

Seeing how yahoo operates--totally ignoring client's needs--just reminds one how good amazon is compared to these know-nothings at yahoo.
and why all of a sudden (even when I click on save password) should I have to get a text? and I am charged for it by the way, do I have to do this to sign in to this email??????
if this is not fixed soon.....good bye to yahoo forever.
They want our phone numbers now, too. How about you secure the email servers, stop letting people snoop, and stop holding my mail ******* for a start? I'm out! Yahoo! is an internet ghetto!
Chant it with me, yall! GHETTO! Yahoo is a GHETTO!

Good Lord, I can only see one day (current date) worth of Emails, the ones from the following the given day I ck my emails. The rest are not accessible. There is no way of changing the settings that allow me to see my Email history.
Come on, it has been 3-4 days now, if I don't ck my email right before midnight before I miss any mail that might have come in prior to the midnight mark.
You guys are better than this.
Since I am deaf, I do not have a cell nor a mobile phone. I do 'own' a phone but only to use to dial 911 if an occasion rises. I can not hear on any phone. I do find the request by Yahoo and other companies for our phone numbers an insult to the hearing disabled as noted under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
