I've been using both the Flickr app, and webpage for years. I love Flickr. But lately I haven't been using it as often. As technology advances, people use mobile phones more and more every day. For those that don't have time to sit on a PC, to browse their Flickr feed, it leaves them with two options. Use the mobile Flickr website, or use the app.
However, the Flickr app's design lacks the features necessary to compete with other social media apps. Here are the things that bother me:
When you open the app, if opens up on your photo-stream, instead of the feed. Since the profile doesn't have a 'upload from gallery' button, it's a little pointless since most people don't want to see their own pictures when they log in.
Related to #1, app opens in photostream's camera roll
I feel like the in-app uploader is uncomfortable, as it makes it annoying to access the photos in your gallery.
Having a floating window that opens when you are going to comment on a picture, would make commenting easier and more enjoyable, as you wouldn't have to open the photo's comment section every time.
It would be nice if it had Flickr mail. It lacks other means of communication with other members.
You should be able to edit/delete your comments. If someone makes a typo they have to go to the mobile webpage, and it's a very large inconvenience.
App needs to have glitches fixed. The timeline and feed jumps back up when you open a picture or comment.
Tagging people in photos was removed? Why?
Groups should have discussions. Because the app doesn't have them, I've seen many groups die out.
Profile cover photo is hardly visible due to darkening
Those are my ideas about how the Flickr app could be improved. I hope I was of service :)
