close the comments
Stop allowing comments. The vast majority of them are hateful, vile, and attack vulnerable minorities,such as LGBTQIA. Why would you invite that? One reason the comments were shut down before is because of this exact problem - so why did you bring them back? Why give bigots a space to spew their bile and hate? Do we really need to give them the power to project their hate? GET RID OF IT.

They brought them back to increase engagement. Site traffic decreased when comments were removed. Site traffic has significantly increased since comments have returned. They’re a business, more traffic equals more money. Content moderators remove the overwhelming majority of hate speech comments and even some benign ones that get reported enough or trigger yahoo’s algorithm.
