At one time, when we searched our mail the results from the Trash folder showed in the list with strikeouts to show they had been deleted. This feature disappeared even before you made the recent changes to basic mail. Sometimes I delete something by mistake, and the item may be several days old; having to search the trash folder manually is a pain. I need to be able to search the Trash folder so I can easily find something which may have been deleted in error. Thank you.

I agree! I had not checked my Spam folder in a long time because there was no indication there were unread messages. I was looking for something specific today and it finally dawned on me that I haven't had to empty Spam in a long time. I clicked on the folder and found over 2 pages of messages - I guess the rest had been deleted automatically. I routinely receive legitimate email in the Spam folder (not necessarily something I want to read, but still legit from a mailing list), so I need to see that there is unread mail there. I need to review these messages for anything which I want or need to read.

Please go back to the way it was! Now when I read an email and then delete it, you automatically open the next item in the inbox. I do NOT want this! I want to pick and choose which item to read next. Maybe I don’t want to read anything else right then and leave the rest as unopened. This is even MORE ANNOYING than not having the inbox full screen. I want my full screen inbox list, I want to read each mail item full screen, and I want to go back to the inbox display after deleting an item and decide for myself which, if any, item to open next!

My display changed today and now has my inbox in a column on the left which stays visible when I open an email - the open email is in a column on the right. My screen isn’t big enough for that! The reason I use the browser instead of an app is because I want to see the list full screen and read the email full screen. I switched to “basic” mail, but that wasn’t the same thing. How do I get rid of these columns but still keep full html email? Why do you change things that don’t need fixing? Grrrrr!

A couple of days ago mine started opening the next email automatically. I do NOT want it to do this. I want to go back to the inbox list and decide which mail to open next. Maybe I don’t want to open anything else right now and keep the rest showing unread. Please go back to the way it was or give us the option in our settings.

I finally found a way to switch back. The button to go back is at the very bottom of the "Settings" (click the gear or settings icon). However, I couldn't see it even after I scrolled to the bottom of the little settings window. After zooming my screen out a couple of times to make everything smaller, the true bottom of the settings window came into view and I finally found the button. I hate it when web designers assume everyone is 20 years old and loves to read small print!
