Re: Formal Complaint Against Yahoo Mail – Account Restriction and Data Handling Concerns for my email address: salahdukes@yahoo.co.uk
I am writing to urgently raise a formal complaint regarding the actions of Yahoo Mail in restricting access to my long-standing email account salahdukes@yahoo.co.uk after more than 25 years of continuous use.
My Yahoo email account has been restricted from sending and receiving emails on the basis that the mailbox storage is allegedly full. However, I am extremely concerned that a substantial amount of this storage has been consumed by unsolicited advertising, promotional, marketing, and spam or junk emails accumulated over many years.
Despite this, Yahoo has effectively suspended essential email functions on my account, which contains highly important personal, medical, financial, and legal communications built up over decades.
I believe Yahoo has failed to adequately manage unsolicited marketing advertising and spam/junk content and has not provided reasonable assistance, warning, or support before imposing restrictions on my account. I am also concerned about the fairness and transparency of Yahoo’s data handling and storage practices relating to advertising and marketing and junk/spam email content.
I therefore request the following urgently:
1. Restore my ability to send and receive emails.
2. Review the storage restrictions placed on my account.
3. Blocking and filtering all of junk/spam and advertising emails before blocking my emails.
4. Clarify how advertising and spam/junk emails contribute to mailbox storage limits. and
5. Confirm what protections are available for preserving my long-standing account emails and correspondence.
However, if Yahoo fails to respond appropriately or resolve this matter satisfactorily, I respectfully request that the Information Commissioner’s Office investigate my concerns regarding data handling, account restrictions, unsolicited marketing and junk and spam and advertising content, and the impact this has had on access to my emails and personal communications.
