I really like the blurred backgrounds in yahoo sports, you should get rid of the stark white backgrounds on the other Yahoo pages too! Also, clean up everything that doesn't NEED to be there, there's too much extra stuff littering your site. Multiple links to News, Finance, Celebrity etc. across the top and down the side. Ditch flash completely, it sucks on mobile and Firefox. It's too "busy", I get frustrated and bail. Remember how Google's homepage looks? That's how they beat you in search. Have content, but not too much!
