Normalize volume for all content (including ads) or add a volume control into the player
When I play videos, the ads literally max out the volume bar on my PC so they are just a bunch of crackles and pops. When the video starts playing it goes back to normal.
When looking at the equalizer on my computer, it pegs it to the top for the entire ad with no fluctuation as would be normal.

I'm sure advertisers would prefer that those watching them can understand them. I assume this is similar to what was a normal practice on broadcast TV until it was made illegal, but in this case it not only is annoying but renders the ads unwatchable and may even damage computer speakers.
