Saudi Flad Football Game
I oversaw the first ever American Flag Football game in Saudi Arabia in the late 70's. It was in the Dammam Stadium, which at that time was one of the largest stadiums in the Kingdom. Our game was between the construction contractors in the north (Shedgum) and the construction contractors in the South (Daharan). The game included several former NFL players as well as a number of former Semi-pro players. The Dammam stadium was almost full of the Saudi locals who loved the game. With the caliber of our players, it turned out to be a very tough game which all of the spectators loved. I was working for the Fluor Corporation at the time and several of the Fluor executives from Irvine, California came over to see the game. The President of Fluor Arabia was even a referee for the game. The local fans loved the game and asked me to do it again the following year which I did, with the same enthusiasm from the locals. If the organizers on this Flag Football game next year need and assistance, I would be more than happy to help.
Best regards
