LA Times Editorial with Covid Misinformation
Yahoo published an LA Times editorial titled, "Editorial: Get more kids vaccinated against COVID, yes, but two bills need more work," which included a statement that "The Omicron variant is highly contagious and higher vaccination rates would mean less spread of this very transmissible version of the coronavirus." This statement is patently false and goes against the CDC statement around vaccine efficacy for transmissibility in the age of Omicron. The CDC states, "CDC expects that anyone with Omicron infection can spread the virus to others, even if they are vaccinated or don’t have symptoms." This is a misrepresentation that goes against federal data and should be flagged or retracted as a result.
