You aren't letting me sign in to my bellsouth.net account and I need to do so and I downloaded mailbird as recommended to do and still can't
Don't stop letting people sign into email accounts that ATT has taken over. And if there are things that need to be done differently please be more clear about how to do them.

Due to contractual agreements and the nature of your issue, you'll need to contact AT&T for a resolution. When contacting AT&T support, it is very important that you provide your full AT&T email address so that they are able to successfully locate your account in their system.
