The new version of the comment section
It's way past time for Yahoo to save its user base by getting rid of the OpenWeb comment platform, and go back to Yahoo's own native comment platform. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING good about the new version of OpenWeb. It's even MORE HOSTILE toward users, thereby, DISCOURAGING conversation and engagement. Everyone is frustrated and angry at OpenWeb's absurdly aggressive AI moderator that is designed to be user-hostile, which, as I said, DISCOURAGES conversation because no one wants to deal with its ridiculous aggressiveness toward benign words, phrases, and sentences. Example: Yesterday I replied to a user simply saying, "It isn't. Get out your checkbook" in reference to rising gas prices and it was immediately removed. 80% of all comments by all users are now being removed. HOW does that encourage an engaging community? It doesn't! We, the Community very much dislike the new version of OpenWeb, so much so that on every article there is always a top comment of We, the Community talking about how much we all HATE it! Long time users have already disengaged and left. We, the Community consist of 40+-year olds who have been using Yahoo since its inception. We, the Community were here for the Yahoo Chat Rooms, Yahoo Messenger, Yahoo Groups, Flickr, Yahoo 360, Yahoo Answers, Yahoo Games, Yahoo GeoCities, Yahoo Mash, Yahoo Meme, etc. Yahoo does NOT seem to understand that it will NEVER EVER attract young users, not via the website, not via the app, not via anywhere. Young people use TikTok, Instagram, Discord, and Snapchat. Young people know Yahoo is for older people. STOP trying to attract youngens or any new users. We, the Community of old are all you've got! Once we're gone, there will be no more users on Yahoo. OpenWeb took an already worst-ever comment platform in internet history and somehow managed to make it even worse. The text is too small, no line breaks to create paragraphs like an adult (walls of text DISCOURAGE engagement!), new reactions are stupid (we want a simple up and down vote!), no GIFs or emojis in comments (we love both!), no notification bell, email notifications are taking at least 24 hours to arrive in my inbox as opposed to a few minutes, 80% of all comments on all articles have been removed due to the absurdly aggressive AI moderator (NO ONE wants to scroll and scroll and scroll to find ACTUAL comments to read!), and it's simply and utterly dumbed down to discourage conversation. Is that what you want...NO conversation at all?! Because it's coming if Yahoo does NOT change the comment platform. We, the Community are done with OpenWeb. Many users have already said goodbye to everyone, and many more, including me, are ready to leave Yahoo forever because of OpenWeb. If you don't want to listen to We, the Community, that's fine. But know that Yahoo's traffic will significantly decrease when all we will use it for is email (and even that is easy to change to Gmail). GET RID OF OPENWEB NOW!
