The only POSSIBLE reward I can imagine Verizon offering would be a credit toward phone or other service from Verizon. I can't see them giving away any money; that's not what they're in business for.

Unfortunately trolls use the blocking feature more than anyone else. I suspect that if this was implemented it would serve their purposes more than it would solve any problems.

I've previously made the same suggestion in saying that blocking should be reciprocal and should not affect the block limit of the person who was blocked.

The Level 7 question moving feature was one of the worst ideas to come from Yahoo!, along with the anonymous posting feature and the way blocking works. All of these have provided opportunities for abusers. Please remove the question moving feature as soon as possible. The person asking the question should have control over the section it appears in.

Blocking should be reciprocal. When one user blocks another the one blocking it making a statement that he/she wants no contact with the user being blocked. This has ALWAYS worked this way when it comes to user e-mail, as it should.

However, the current block function allows users to block other users while continuing to answer the blocked users' questions and post comments on the blocked users' answers. This allows a troll to post inflammatory questions (or "questions") solely for the purpose of blocking those who respond, and the number of trolls using this tactic appears to be growing.

The user who has been subjected to this abuse should not have to use his/her OWN block limit just to put a stop to it.

As I posted on another question involving these spammers:

Account reporting would be an opportunity for abuse. I'm a bit sensitive to this having been banned for life for no apparent or identifiable reason.

There are any number of programming solutions to this problem that could prevent these spam attacks. Whatever was done in the past seems ineffective.

While a solution to the problem is needed it's a bad idea to correct it with something that would only create more problems.

This is a good idea. Askers should use the “update” function, not the answer function on their own questions. I suppose there is a use case where askers find the answer to their own questions and want to share it. I’ll have to do more research on this matter.

I think this is an excellent suggestion because the ability to answer ones own question leads to abuse. This makes the Leader Board meaningless when people post just to give themselves Best Answer. It also leads to trolling when someone posts an inflammatory "question" then answers in a similar manner (with the question and/or answer posted anonymously) and gives BA to their own answer.

I certainly hope that if you remove the ability to answer ones own question you do it using IP address rather than any other criteria so multiple accounts cannot be used to overcome the restriction.

Agreed. We’re working on a new moderation system, including appeals.

At the very least the notification that an account has been suspended because inappropriate content was posted should quote or refer to the specific content that violated the Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.

My account was suspended years ago due to (supposedly) posting inappropriate content. I appealed and my appeal was denied with the same stock answer that I had posted inappropriate content. I have requested reinstatement numerous times over the years and every time have received the same stock answer, but no one at Yahoo! has been able or willing to tell me exactly what I posted that violated anything.

Having one's account suspended at Yahoo! bears a disturbing similarity to being accused of witchcraft in the late 1600's.

I know it takes reports from multiple users for a question to be deleted so maybe it hasn't been reported by enough people. I would have reported it but I've been banned for life so I can't help.

We plan to allow the blocking of anonymous people in the future. Expect anonymous answering to go away, expect anonymous asking to stay.

There was a time when the list of questions displayed the number of answers already given. This was the case on the older green version of Answers and for a while on the new version. A lot of users complained when that was removed. I always liked that feature and a lot of other users did as well. Sure would like to see it restored.
