Is there an option for C (rather than the old, Polish F) with the temperature?
Is there an option for C (rather than the old, Polish F) with the temperature?
Fahrenheit was invented in 1724 (by a Polish layman) - based on a mixture of ice, water and ammonium chloride. He measured when it froze at 1,272 ft (387.7 m). Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit picked his temperature scale by making 0 [zero] degrees the coldest outdoor temperature he could find in his hometown of Danzig (now Gdanlask, Poland). He took the lowest temperature which he measured in the harsh winter of 1708 through 1709, and making 100 degrees the temperature of his own body.
Far more recently, Anders Celsius, a Swedish Astronomer (a SCIENTIST), used the freezing point of distilled water at sea level as 0 [zero] and the boiling point as 100.
Albert Einstein, Ben Franklin, Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, George Eastman (of Eastman/Kodak) - all REFUSED to speak Imperial ... they all stood their ground and spoke METRIC.
