First luxury hotel for pets in Singapore

This certainly is no doghouse! Singapore’s first luxury class pet hotel, The Wagington, pulls out all the stops for pampered pooches and pussycats. Founded by Singaporean Ms Estelle Tayler, the 4,317 sq ft lodging, housed in a converted pre-war bungalow is located in Loewen Road in the upmarket embassy district.

No kennels, cages or small enclosures for the pets. The Wagington boasts 27 air-conditioned suites of various sizes, ranging from the Royal Suite which can house up to three dogs, depending on their size, in a 96 square-foot room, to the Junior Suite, at over 15 square-feet for diminutive doggies.

The Royal Suite has a chandelier and on-suite television – in case the pet enjoys the goggle-box!

There is also a bone-shaped swimming pool for the dogs out back. Owners can chill out at the poolside cabana while watching their dogs swim.

After morning pack walks, the canines can relax and have fun in a social setting at the Doghill Garden laid out in artificial turf, which is hypoallergenic. If the weather prevents outdoor activity, there is also a treadmill especially for dogs.

For rest, the dogs at the hotel are bedded in soft faux leather orthopaedic beds and blankets. Over and above the regular grooming and trimming, the five-star luxury salon services for furkids include four types of mud masks, aromatherapy facial and head massage, fur dyeing, teeth brushing and pawdicure.

Felines are also housed in cat suites with cat trees for their lounging pleasure.

Guests have to be vaccinated and spayed and must be free of ticks and mites to be admitted into the hotel.

Incidentally, the name of the pet hotel is spelt this way (The Wagington) for numerological reasons.
