Please fire whoever was responsible for this change.
Normally, change is driven by customer demand. Obviously not in this case. First you changed the Sports layout and invited comments, and everyone screamed. Your reply - we don't care what you think, we're doing it anyway. You've done it again with the home page. Why would you ask for comments if you really don't care about your customer? Pretty soon, there will be no customers to care about.
