Mich. Legislature Passed Bill Allowing Abusers to Purchase Concealed Weapon Permits!
Yahoo should have a story on this because it's so mind-boggling. Michigan Senate Bill 789 was passed in the wee hours of the morning during horsetrading at the very end of the lame duck session and is now on the governors desk awaiting signature! The bill would change current Michigan law to allow anyone who has a Personal Protection Order (PPO),commonly known as a restraining order, against them to purchase a concealed weapons permit, even in cases of domestic violence or stalking. They are then permitted to purchase a gun provided there is no ban on them obtaining a weapon. Considering that the vast majority of women who are murdered are killed by their husbands or boyfriends, is anyone else horrified that the Michigan Legislature would make it easier to put lethal weapons in the hands of domestic abusers?
